Seemed worthwhile to add a thread for all the mini series the womens teams play outside of the world cups & the ones with Tests that have had their own threads. Currently: England 1-1 New Zealand (t20is) West Indies 0-1 South Africa (t20is) Must admit I'm partly here to moan about bowling - England conceded 19 wides tonight (from 10 wide balls) and lost with 10 balls to spare. Particularly disappointing to see Farrant bowl 3 wides in a row when NZ needed 4 to win (albeit one being converted into a wicket on review) after she's had such a great season. Sure, we all bowl wides. But for me the sheer quantity is one of the key differences in men's and women's cricket - this isn't particularly a rarity. Think there was one game in the hundred where extras top scored, or was close to it! But hey, nicely poised series now. Looking forward to the 3rd on Thursday and the 5 ODIs! The bowling issues and relative lack of six hitters should iron itself out over the next few years IMO women's cricket will always be much more comparable to the men's game than in some other sports, which should be good for continuing the growth.

Great final game to round off the series. Feels like England have one of the deeper batting line ups and that's huge going into the world cup.

Winfield-Hill is not very good IMHO.

Winfield-Hill is a bit of a Bairstow/Hick character in that her domestic returns really are pretty good, she earns the chances she gets, but just doesn't seem to quite take those chances at international level. Dani Wyatt is in the squad as a straight replacement, but I would like to see Eve Jones or Georgia Adams get a go. They're both late 20s so I wonder if a bit of the reticence to cap them is that everyone expects this to be Capsey's spot within a year or two and they don't want to block her path.
If it is that, then maybe just get Capsey in now and let her learn the role.

The problem with Sophia Dunkley batting 6 is that I want four of the English top 5 out asap.

In defence of me, I did post that *after* Jones was bowled, it wasn't a jinx.

Tahuhu and Satterthwaite's daughter apparently on tour with them, which is really sweet.

There is no such thing as too much of Katherine Brunt's batting.

Strong Stuart Broad vibes from Brunt. The second, slightly faster more aggressive main seamer, and skillful yet unreliable batting.

Impressive comeback from England today, but pretty concerning to not see out the overs again (4th time out of 4 times batting first in 2021, apparently).
Surprised it was Wyatt's first ODI 50 in England, she's really pushed on the last couple of years so assumed her returns were better! But yeah, I'd get Capsey in ASAP too, already a star. Found it odd that in the hundred she was batting above Villiers and bowling more than Villiers, but Villiers made the England t20is directly after
