I'm sure there have been worse starts after lunch. I'm not sure I could think of many.

Lovely to see ADR get a debut ton. A player who has been on the top tier of the domestic game without getting the international opportunity for a long time.

Great to see Issy Wong breaking the game wide open too. Hopefully we get enough play today for a result.

Emma Lamb having a very decent start to her opening career. I feel firmly justified in my long term LWH selection confusion now!

This is brutal.
Oh and the paucity and length of women's Tests are still both awful.

England's Commonwealth Games Squad is fun. No Beaumont, Lamb or LWH which suggests they're prioritising strike rate. Bryony Smith, Kemp and Capsey (!) in.
Wyatt Smith/Capsey Dunkley Sciver Knight Jones Brunt Ecclestone Wong / Glenn Cross Davies / Kemp
Bouchier feels tricky to fit into this team, bit of a surprise there's no Charlie Dean either. Interesting stuff for sure.

Some comedy fielding from SA today. Three fluff ups in three balls, genuinely think my Sunday team would have been upset not to take two of those chances.

Lost it a bit at the end, but - there is such a gulf between England and the rest, isn't there? With maybe India starting to gain ground. (And of course Australia miles ahead.)

Yes, England and Australia are both improving dramatically from already being the best two sides (Australia well ahead of course). Of the other sides around the world, only India really look like they're improving. SA & NZ both have golden generations coming to the end of their careers and probably only one or two next generation players look up to the same standard (Amelia Kerr/Laura Wolvaart). It's the sad but obvious end point of most of these boards not taking women's cricket that seriously/having the money to take women's cricket that seriously.

Well that was the only chance of Australia losing a match all CWG.

Really thought it was happening at 5 down. That's why they're the best team around I suppose.

Capsey walking at Shabnim Ismail and whacking her for four is... quite exciting for the future of England cricket.

Has Capsey done her eye a nasty or something?

I think she edged one into her face in the warm ups before the first game. To me it looks bad enough that it would impact sight slightly... yet she's scored 44 & 50!
