In terms of championship games, it's only a marginally worse scorecard for England than last week's first innings! Labuschagne 10 ------------ Burns 8 Denly 6 Root 2 Roy 0 Stokes 0 Buttler 0 Bairstow 0 Overton 8 Archer 0 Broad 7 Leach 8 Others: Anderson 6, SCurran 5, Woakes 0

If you were to rate player's form so far, there's a certain correlation between those who've played county and those who haven't (Stokes and Archer aside) Burns 8 - Doing well, exceeding expectations Denly 6 - Solid, meeting expectations Root 2 - Poor, other than his last innings very out of form. Roy 0 - Rubbish Stokes 0 - Star man, doesn't need to play county stuff Buttler 0 - Rubbish Bairstow 0 - Poor Overton 8 TBD Archer 0 - Good stuff from Archer Broad 7 - Excellent, our best bowler at the moment Leach 8 - Meeting expectations

One not so great innings of bowling is more than forgivable, may not be 100% his doing that he's down on pace.......

This Aussie team reminds me of the teams we play on a Sunday sometimes, with one batsman just far too good for the level spoiling an otherwise even game between two well matched if bang average teams.

The absolute perfect description. He is just on another level to any batsman in the world right now. Sod the big three, there's a clear top 1.

26 hundreds to 25 fifties, eat that Joe Root.
Currently averaging 93 in the first innings of a match with 16 hundreds and 5 fifties.
He started his career fairly slowly, making 620 runs at a touch under 30 in his first 11 Tests. In his 12th, he struck his first century (final 2013 Ashes Test). Since then, it's been 6059 runs at an average of 73. 26 hundreds in 56 Tests. Since that first century, he's averaged 83 against England.
Absolutely out there on his own as the greatest batsmen in a good 50 years.
He does average just 6 against Monty Panesar...

Broad is bowling beautifully here, only one who looks like consistently troubling the batsman.

Stokes just going at 6 an over thus far.....another one who has been broken by an absurd spell or is it a case that as some on here (well me anyway) have suggested that he's just not that good a bowler really?
