Apart from a bizarre 45 min spell when we looked like we were batting on a 5th day pitch, that seemed really rather comfortable today

Rabada banned for the next Test. Nothing at all happens to Jos.
I’m thinking of a certain controversial word.

They got the same charge and punishment, Rabada got a ban because it's his fourth in 12 months. I've definitely seen England players get away with things that I've not thought were ideal, but Rabada keeps doing this and it's really not that hard to celebrate more than an inch from the batsman.
Fantastic session this for England by the way.

Oh okay, Jos got a demerit point too then?
Still think it’s a bit much though. Jos’ thing far worse to my eyes.

Yes, both got one point. The ban is because it's his fourth, having done the same to Smith, Warner and Dhawan. Tend to agree that I think Buttler's was a bit worse, but I don't think that means Rabada shouldn't get a bit of a slap on the wrist. To be clear, I think if he does the same celebration a foot further away then it's totally fine.
Holding and Hussain are absolutely having it out on Sky about it though, entertaining space invasion demonstrations from both of them.
I hate the idea of players being banned for games, but I'm not really sure the financial penalties alone would stop anyone doing anything?

FWIW, my view on this.....when you get out, it can be a slightly emotional time, you can be quite angry and pissed off, so someone celebrates right in front of you, it can increase the chance of a significant verbal exchange, or a physical exchange, shoulder to shoulder stuff, as a bowler you've got literally the whole field to celebrate on, he does what he did a yard further back or to the side there's no issue, but doing it right under his nose is not on.

Okay, I’ve been a big supporter of Buttler in the team in the past, due to his obvious potential. Fed up with that now. If he’s not going to act on it, he should get out of the way and let Ben Foakes into the side.

Tend to agree, fantastic cricketer but he's not the best wicket keeper (Foakes is) in England not the most successful test batsman (Bairstow is, even with recent comedy-bowled form). Think it's time to accept he's Eoin Morgan-in-waiting.

Best WK-bat might be Pope at this rate.

QN.....does Sam Curran need a score here? He's consistently on the cusp of being dropped esp with our RFM options stacking up, and whilst he's had a few handy innings with the bat he's yet to really lay down a big score that could keep him in the team as an all round option.

Idiot. There was a big score there for the taking for Curran and he's messed it up. Flashy 40s aren't good enough for someone looking to nail a spot at 8

Ollie Pope is the real deal. Several real deals, you'd think.

Mark Wood off a blob with a slog swept six. Great to have him back.
