Just about got it over the line, ultimately Root got it just about right, the main man of 2019 back at it again already. Series nicely poised now!

Lovely altercation here between Buttler and Philander Love Stokes "Don't stare him out, he's got a point there Vernon"

Buttler doesn’t come out of that too well.
Stokes does. Whaddagame.

Knobhead is a fun little swear.
What an ending that was to a day that felt like it wasn't realy going anywhere. Nicely poised series this.

If an aussie had done that to one of our brave boys the press would be laying right fucking into them

Runs, wickets and catches. Character, grit and determination. Ben Stokes, what a player.

Looking like Wood in for Anderson. Poor Leach. Perhaps Chris Silverwood might have chosen his words more carefully when describing Leach’s ‘infectious personality’?

Poor TV. Man must spend his holidays beating black cats with mirrors for all the luck he has.
Meanwhile, I wonder if we might be able to get the BCCI to stump up a huge pile of cash for Stuart Broad after they got Warnered?

Taunton Vettori, sorry. Initially just for his bowling left arm spin in glasses, but as his batting has improved...

Ahhh makes sense....and we will once more likely have a bizarre situation where, on the back of a decent showing, Bess will nail down the England spinner slot over the coming tests, only to go back to county stuff in (a frankly ludicrous 12 weeks time) and find himself playing (or not) second fiddle to Leach once again.

Interesting article on cricinfo comparing Botham, Flintoff and Stokes...... www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/28483448/botham-flintoff-stokes-england-greatest-allrounder Hard to make a case for either of the recent chaps against Botham on the numbers front alone and we may not be able to do a true comparison until the end of Stokes' career as he still has time to either improve or deteriorate.....what is clear from the article though is just how far ahead both Kallis and Sobers are ahead of everyone, utterly absurd numbers from the pair of them!

Paterson bowling overs 2-8 is... bewildering.

One of the all time great stats: the last time England were wicketless at lunch on Day 1 was in 2015 and Australia had batted first (Broad's 8/15 at TB)

Also Denly might have one of the best rates of reaching double figures in Tests. Mental.
Maharaj is bloody good.
