Gale was a walking wicket in recent seasons. He will be missed, by opposition bowlers. It is also speculated that Gaz Baz will be the next captain. Hardly surprising. He is a like for like replacement, with a slightly better batting average and a slightly dodgy technique. And, one suspects, not much prospect of international call up in the near future!

Ashley Giles to return to Warwickshire. Kent's ODI team invited to play in WI domestic competition, which somewhat bizarrely includes Windies U-19 team.

LOL. Thinking of Giles and Bell being together again. I'm honestly unsure which "ship" name fits them better as it's easy to see that that relationship could turn out either way! So does one go with Biles or Gell?!

Fixture list for 2017 is out, a new schedule for county cricket. Early April for the CC as always but the RLODC starts on 27th April and the T20 Blast starts on 7th July, running all the way into early September. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/38080382

Warks have appointed their ex-captain Jim Troughton as the new coach. They are still looking to sign Giles as the director. And Gaz Baz has been confirmed as Yorkies' captain across all formats. Fun times.

Because he played so well last year...
I'm guessing we wait until 01/01/2017 and then make a new thread?

Yeah its okay if we wait for longer as well. The LO fixtures vs India signal the end of the season, so its alright.

Tom Abell named Somerset club & FC captain. Bloody hell, that's a serious show of faith in a 22 year old.

A big call from Somerset, hopefully the captaincy does not affect his development as a batsman. Still, nice to see a young player being made captain.

Alviro Petersen slapped with a two year ban for match fixing. Safe to say he wouldn't return to Lancs for the next season. One person surely not returning to EOT is Ashley Giles, as he has been appointed as Director of Cricket at Warwickshire. Good luck Gilo, now Lancs better not screw this opportunity and appoint someone who is bloody good. Glenn Chapple is his replacement and Chilts will be his assistant.

It is good to see Northeast be considered for the game, such a talent he is.

Sticking with Kent news, they have won their first game of WICB Regional Super50 against Windward Islands, a team having 5 WI internationals, by 4 wickets.
