Any update on Kent? They considered legal action but nothing so far, it seems.

ECB are calling for debt write off/ restructuring of debts by Durham's creditors. This must have been done in the first place, before the penalty and relegation.
However, it means the debts due to the Government and City council will be postponed or waived. And that means ECB is indirectly not paying the dues to the Government / Councils. Is that... legal? I mean, its like, whether the government will accept writing off or postponing our personal tax liability. Misfeasance. The ECB rakes in money and they must be made to lend money to Durham to pay off outsiders and goverment, and then its up to ECB to recover their debts. Imo, its quite wrong as it is basically other people's money.

Kent have a rightful reason to be aggrieved of. The whole 2 down-1 up was in regard to the county season and Durham weren't relegated in the due course of the season. So Kent must be replacing Durham. But hey, nothing that they do ever makes sense.

Mark Nicholas weighs in on the Durham issue: www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/1061517.html"It is worth remembering that back in 2003, seven counties voted against playing T20 at all. It is a fair bet that a few would be out of business now if they had had their way then" Oh, really? I think Northants and Durham were in much better shape then than they are now. Its not that the clubs are surviving due to the advent of T20, they are in quite a bad shape due to the Board and their lack of interest in the longer format of the game.

"It has emerged the new teams could now be named after regions rather than cities, with Yorkshire reluctant to be rebranded as Leeds and Surrey refusing to take part as any sort of South London-named outfit" --- Daily Mail
They also report that the city based competition will not kick off until 2020. Now, I do not trust their news sources as it has not appeared elsewhere but even then, these two are delightful, especially that Lancs will not be named Manchester (and that is the overwhelming thinking among other Lancs supporters as well).

Balladeer, I couldn't barely believe it myself, you know. Its more Daily Manchester United, rather than Daily Mail nowadays. I don't know which is more surprising, them reporting a positive piece of news or them reporting cricket !!

Durham have agreed a bailout package with Durham County Council. Had this been done earlier, they would have not been relegated.
