Since we all came here from the Liveblog, this article is worthy of note. Well-deserved. The article, not me getting featured comment for sucking up.

I hopped in here to post a link and Ballader, you beat me to it. Cricinfo getting the award is fantastic and one of our own getting a featured comment is the icing They did a really good job and and deserved it. I still remember how Will was responding to every comment when Hants' game was delayed, telling us about the pitch, the targets and the relegation battle. BBC's Kevin Hand is another of the gems covering county cricket and deserves an applause.

That's a kind & thoughtful comment Balladeer. Cheers! Think the person who added that they'd like to see ball by ball commentary should get an honorable mention. I've always thought that would improve the coverage and I think there'd be lots of fans who would offer to do it for free if they'd just provide a simple live camera feed. We know the players and don't need anything fancy. Think the clubs could even get Go fund me support to pay for a cheap camera with internet access. The blog is always more fun when somebody chimes in what they've heard about a run out......especially if it's Samit!

I like that both the Guardian and Cricinfo are claiming Will MacPherson as one of their own, when he's a freelancer who has *gasp* a foot in both live blogs. Crossing the divide... people have been excommunicated for less.

Quite a nice grab for Essex by signing Mohammad Amir, should help them in Div 1.

Very good signing, hope they sorted his visa out before announcing though as I'd imagine his criminal record must make it tricky.

Er... Yorkshire have just appointed Jason Gillespie's successor.
Andrew Gale.
More to follow I suspect! Is he still playing? Has he dropped himself permanently?
Edit (1 of I suspect, a few): Confirmed he's retiring from playing. Not many do that with a job lined up, fair play.

Some Yorkshire fans will, I suspect, be very happy with both sides of that coin.

Very happy with the decision, hope Gale maintains the same approach and focus that Dizzy had as coach, sad to say after a great 7 years as skipper that he won't be missed in the batting line up

Gale was a walking wicket in recent seasons. He will be missed, by opposition bowlers. It is also speculated that Gaz Baz will be the next captain. Hardly surprising. He is a like for like replacement, with a slightly better batting average and a slightly dodgy technique.
