Well, Shiv was brought in to have some experienced heads around the team. I don't see him playing so many games but he might be an important player in the dressing room to guide the likes of Hameed, Jones and Livingstone. After all, he was signed on a one-year contract only. Still I think he would be a better batsman than the legendary Karl Brown.
Dane Vilas is a very good player and considering one of the key factors for Lancs not "winning the championship" was the lack of wicket keeping cover when Davies got injured. It was comedy gold when Crofty stood behind the stumps and the added workload heavily affected his batting. I think Vilas would fit right in as Alviro's replacement, just with the added benefit that he can keep if Davies is absent.

Sussex have signed NZ's Ross Taylor as their overseas player for the Blast. Great player really, and he was a star performer for the Sharks this season.
Junaid Khan joins Lancs for the T20 Blast.

Oh really??!! And no one is posting anything on transfers?
Durham news: Paul Coughlin heads to Notts, Keaton J and Onions arrive at Lancashire, Burnham and Poynter have signed new deals.
Lancs news: Kyle Jarvo is set to leave to county to pursue his Zim career, good luck to him.
Ones that got away: Warks got themselves a set of openers and Rikki Clarke has returned to his first club.

Don't worry Aneesh, we're crying talking about them. Just mostly on the liveblog at the moment.

Ryan Higgins Middlesex to Gloucestershire seems to be on.
Oh, and Jim Allenby left Somerset, perhaps inevitably at the same time as Maynard.

Middlesex didn't use him much, a sound move.

Alex Lees to Durham on loan with a perm move at the end of the season, hope its a good move for him, showed so much capability and promise a few years back, but can barely buy a run now.

An opener going to Durham to save his career is a bold choice. Hope it works out for him.

Yorkshire get Raval in exchange. Can’t help feeling he might do a bit better.

It won’t last. I can’t get that excited because Durham really need batsmen, but perhaps he can do an England-all-rounder job? Stick him at six? Anyway he’s a solid player, and a great contributor to any Weather XI.

Craig Miles joining Liam Norwell in going from Gloucs to Warwickshire, who are rapidly becoming the Hampshire of the (relatively) north.
Does feel like the writing is on the wall for the smaller counties, sadly. There but for consistently excellent management go Somerset, I fear.

Colly’s retiring at the end of the season. Probably about time, but still a sad thing to hear.

Was excited to see him trending on Twitter and then devastated to realise why. One of my favourite ever cricketers, certainly the one I want to be when I play - whole hearted and made the absolute most of every drop of talent he was given. That mentality plus the skills of a Bell, a Gower, a Vince and you'd have had the English Bradman.
