Slightly anticlimactic finish. Vince very good, Brave look a real team. Fire are... not very good.

I was wrong, the crowd was actually pretty much full (if we ignore the covered temporary stands which were for the international)
IIRC Fire won their first two last season where Bairstow carried them, before he went to play for England and they went to pieces, before maybe winning the dead rubber/wooden spoon at the end with Spirit - so losing Bairstow this week a huge blow. The man who most impressed me was James Fuller. Played every t20 since joining Hampshire but only had 3 wickets in the first 3 years, now a different man and first change option in the hundred! Rehan Ahmed also took that in his stride, class prospect, can't wait for him to join Notts

Huge fan of Alex Hales saying there are 'six quality teams' in the tournament. Does he not know how many teams there are, or does he think Welsh Fire and presumably one other are bobbins?

Adam Lyth whacks Reece Topley for four consecutive sixes. Woof.
Must say that now the Lions game is on and the test squad are getting together, this has a big "Blast" feeling. Some decent players on show but if I was a cricket casual I've probably heard of... less than half the players on show. And most of those are past their peak.

To be fair - is that any different from the IPL? Plenty of domestic players in there that are unknown, and would take a league with about 7/8 overseas slots in the XI to change that for me!

Eh, perhaps. Think I'm mostly comparing to the women's comp where it's pretty much all the best of the best. Not sure Hilton Cartwright, David Wiese or Marchant De Lange were on the list of overseas when they planned this all out...
Fun game in the women's tournament tonight, Superchargers making a very decent 143 and Invincibles going to gun it down with plenty of wickets in hand, led by, of all things, a Lauren Winfield-Hill masterclass and Alice Capsey just doing silly shit at the end.

When you're out of form, it's amazing how often you get the good ones. Tough on Jason Roy, but the guy is in diabolical form.
Oh, and Rilee Roussow has a runner. This could be fun.

Have so much time for Hayley Matthews bowling in a baseball cap.

This format is built for people like Stirlo In many ways, its best feature. Jason Roy has been dropped and has now inside edged into the stumps and seen the bail not fall off. A stroke of luck...

New sub-forum. Should The Hundred be in the County Cricket category? I'm willing to be persuaded either way!

I think it's fine, we have a women's domestic cricket forum here too, and that's also regionalised and has been for ages, less controversially.
Cricket Twitter is constantly schisming over the correct amount of hatred to give the Hundred and it's not a great deal of fun.

I get that Hayley Matthews has gone back to the Windies, but if Welsh Fire have signed Maddy Green to play ahead of Rachael Haynes then they're even more of a binfire than we thought. She must be injured...
Meanwhile, the Invincibles have Dane van Niekerk sitting on the bench unable to get in the side. The Welsh Fire signings on both men's and women's sides look like someone who doesn't want to win anything!
