Yeah, we're only just into the 3rd session on day 1 and Root's coming in for his 6th over.....the pedestrian comment was a thinly veiled comment around Wood's absence.....kind of feel like we've managed to knack up selection again, though as has been the case for a while, our players are consistently better out of the team than in the team

Picking this attack, we needed the ball to swing early and move about under lights. So far, it's done neither. Bad luck or bad judgement, I'm not really qualified to say, but it's pretty clear that if we allowed substitutes in cricket, Mark Wood and Jack Leach would be warming up with intent!
CricViz pointing out that the last time it did this little in a pink ball test, David Warner scored 335* is not what I needed this morning. Christ.
Edit: WELL BOWLED CRICVIZ! Warner c Broad b Warner's ego

saw another good stat earlier about us having only ever once bowled out a team in a D/N match when bowling first (mainly due to 9 down declarations), and in that innings spinners took 8 of 10 wickets!
Stokes looking the most dangerous at the mo really makes the Wood non selection look strange

Jesus Christ Jos.
From the sublime to the ridiculous inside a day.
Warne says he's "hardly made a mistake all day"... except dropping Marnus twice. This is not okay in international wicketkeeping.

Everyone who has ever played cricket, at any level, has dropped their share of absolute sitters, we're lucky enough to not have our fuck ups captured on camera and played over and over again, that Buttler drops tho has to be one of the easiest catches i've ever seen shelled in international cricket, and following from his drop of Marnus of Stokes it is not a good look.

I've dropped far more than my share!
It's brutal. Cricviz again: This is the seventh time in his Test career that Jos Buttler has dropped two catches in a Test innings. Two of them have come in the last week.
It's not good timing.

Criviz Expected wickets today:
Anderson 1.9 Broad 2.2 Woakes 1.5 Robinson 1.5 Stokes 1.8 Root 0.9
Don't know what to make of that. Excellent batting, I guess.

Oh good, one of those intensely annoying lower order partnerships against tired bowlers that we used to be great at.

Top order crap, lower order crap, bowling crap, fielding fucking crap, selection crap, scheduling of CC crap. It's one big shit fest, fully expecting us to be 3 or 4 down by the close and in complete and utter disarray.

They would have capitulated by now. It's not a coincidence that our lower order has gone to shit at the same time as our top order - they're facing fresher bowlers and harder balls and it exposes them.
