GET IIIIIIIIIIIIIN CRI-CKET’S COMIN’ HOME, IT’S COMIN’ HOME... Overreaction? Naaaaaaah. Nothing to do with the fact that batting first is everything in World Cups. But seriously, can we keep Plunkett in the team for a bit now please thank you. Hot and probably wrong take: I would rest Archer for the next game and play Curran or Moe instead.

Judging by social media, it seems Rihanna's presence at yesterday's game has done more to publicise this World Cup than anything the ICC have done. Shine bright like a diamond.

Its getting v spicy in the Nemo v Pierre fantasy battle this week, very few points between the teams with 17 overs left, and its basically Bumrah vs Shakib to see who wins

Never in doubt. Will the good Pakistan turn up and destroy Bangladesh to make the semis?
They need to... Beat Bangladesh by 311 runs after scoring 350 Beat Bangladesh by 316 runs after scoring 400 Beat Bangladesh by 321 runs after scoring 450 Walk in the park, that.

When you look back at weather impacted fixtures, you've got to say nz got v fortunate with the India match being called off, a loss there and they'd have been in big trouble

NZ have only passed 250 once and not passed 300 at all, pretty weak really. England and India have both passed 300 6 times (India in 7 innings!). In a tournament dominated by openers, theirs have done nothing since the first game, and they've had luck with the rain against India and Braithwaite being literally one metre from winning the WI game

A story of some real what ifs for Afghanistan at this WC, ultimately all that will be remembered is that they lost every match, but they certainly haven't disgraced themselves at the tournament. As for the Windies, hard to know what to make of their tournament, considered by many to be dark horses, ultimately Balladeer called it right early doors, that bowling attack just wasn't up to it and they conceded too many straight up and in the last 10 overs. A couple of what ifs but never looked like threatening, fielding was probably the poorest in the tournament and half their team seem to be held together by duct tape.

They've not embarrassed themselves on the field, but it's been a bit dodgy off it, I feel...
Mohammad Shahzad, arguably their best batsman and record ODI run scorer kicked from the team a couple of games in "injured" while he claims to be fine and thinks he won't play international cricket again. Next, Aftab Alam, their best averaging bowler and most economical seamer, sent home due to "exceptional circumstances" [read a few tweets about it being dodgy but nothing concrete]. Ashgar Afghan, removed as captain a month before the world cup and replaced by Naib, who opens the batting and bowls his full allocation most games despite a career batting average of 21 and fairly naff figures throughout the world cup (especially against Pakistan). He didn't even think to bring in the field when they needed 2 off 3, so Afghan came to his rescue.
Still, perhaps with a few coaching changes (crap fielding early on especially) they'll improve fast. Throughout the tournament even, they did - in the first 3 games, they conceded more extras than their opponent - including a whopping 35 in a Sri Lankan total of 201, before tightening up, and conceding less in the other 6 games. Mujeeb ended up as the most economical bowler so far that's bowled over 40 overs (4.48 per over). If they sort out their batting order, sort out their captain and actually select their best teams, they could have a decent go in 4 years

Yes, the off field stuff has been baffling, i'm looking forward to Phil Simmons' comments once he's left his role.

Disappointed Pakistan didn't go berserk and aim for the unlikely 500. But I guess a win of that magnitude was unlikely so they're better off going for the £40k prize money for winning the match

Loving sa doing the opposite of their normal wc, by playing appallingly until the last game then smashing it. Could be a v interesting finish to the league.... Think I'd rather play aus than India in the semis on reflection

Oh absolutely, but it’s all going to be down to the toss anyway.

WHat a great game to finish the group stages, another win for the team batting first, which is bloody worrying for the knockouts, basically win 2 tosses win the WC for any one of 4 teams is not really how it should end, but it'll be what it will be

Plenty of time for things to go belly-up, but if NZ beat India to the final because of the stupid toss thing I will laugh and laugh.
Probably still even laugh if they beat England to be honest.
