F*ck the ICC. Suppose this deserves a thread though. England to crash out in the semis, gloriously.

I'm going to a couple of the Oval-based games, which will be nice. Obviously it should have sixteen teams but hey ho, it's cricket. If England don't win this one, as the hosts, as the #1 ODI side, I really will despair.
The Jofra Archer will they-won't they circus will give us something to split over though.
Roy Bairstow Root Buttler Morgan Stokes Ali Woakes Willey Rashid Plunkett
Hales Billings Two of T Curran/Archer/Wood/Stone
Quite the step up on teams we've brought before...

Still the case Nemo? What if Moeen's form with the bat doesn't recover? You bring him along, but does he still make your starting XI? And what of Jordan?
Roy Bairstow Root Morgan Stokes Buttler Ali (gnrgh) Willey Rashid Plunkett Wood
Hales Woakes Archer Dawson...?

I wouldn't take a third spinner, I would take another quick. I think pitches dependent I'd consider playing Rashid as the only spinner, I can't see any game you'd play three in.
I do like having Jordan in the team though, he's got a bit of that Stokes-type x-factor in the field and he's a much improved new ball bowler too. But broadly, think the only thing that's changed since my original list is that the pace bowlers are now basically all neck and neck.

Can anybody explain to me what the hell Denly is doing there?

Can anybody explain to me what the hell Denly is doing there? Presumably because he average 55 with the bat & 25 with the ball last year. Even as a Kent fan i'm a bit surprised. I think also they like that he can do both aspects...

Does he? Blimey. Mind you, England have a lot of high-averaging List A players...

While he's got decent stats, I reckon he's just there as bringing Archer in straight away would've caused more controversy. He hasn't played an ODI since 2009. Archer will have a few games vs Pakistan and they'll make the switcheroo, no way Denly is being picked in the actual squad, I feel.

Hales testing positive for drugs. Billings with a dodgy shoulder. Plunkett on slowdown. Looks like England’s much-vaunted white ball depth is going to get a work-out.

Pope's done his shoulder too. Means that we're down to our fifth choice wicket keeper for the Ireland game next week.
Of course, that is Ben Foakes, so it's not really that bad.

It really wouldn't be a world cup without England having an absolute meltdown in the buildup. Have you read the Dave Tickner book on English world cup campaigns, 28 Days Data?

This is impressive even by English standards though. Hales coming across as a bit of a tit now.
The rest of his body must be mightily ticked off with his eyebrows, which have obviously been running the show for a while now.

IMPORTANT ENGLAND WORLD CUP SQUAD NEWS
Morgan is Australian, Stokes really doesn’t work, and it turns out that in addition to everything else, Wood is a very pretty lady.

England naming final world cup squad on Tuesday morning, suggestion is it's 15 from the 16 who've played in this series, so no Jordan & no Dawson, with Willey or Curran most at risk of being picked off by Archer.
Quite remarkable that England could still pick this whole separate XI which I'm quite confident would batter our previous teams:
1. Alex Hales 2. Ben Duckett 3. Sam Hain 4. Joe Clarke 5. Ben Foakes 6. Liam Dawson 7. Lewis Gregory 8. Craig Overton 9. Chris Jordan 10. Mason Crane 11. Saqib Mahmood
