And if today's weather's any guide, it'll piss it down throughout that round. Ho hum. Also, why is the last round of matches entirely during the week? Insanity.

Absolutely fascinating article from Jarrod, I'm sure there are plenty of interesting stories to tell, all one needs to do, is look closer at the marvel that is the CC

Regarding the weather, Kent got a lot of stick last week for not playing their game against Gloucester. However, by chance I played at Canterbury in an under 19 T20 finals day on Sunday and the outfield was still very wet on the edges and was relatively slow anyway. I therefore doubt it'll take much rain to ruin games.

Welp, that's an end to the championship and the liveblog for another year. Couldn't resist a final troll jab - him aside, it's been another good one.

DURHAM are fourth. Two central contracts. All of that means more money to provide the squad with some much-needed extra quality, especially with the bat.
Oh and thank you somerset. Fantastic season

Can't complain with Nottingham's season, finished one place above where they were last season and had the potential to be runners-up. Pretty good turnaround when they were fearing relegation at one point (although you can easily argue that they shouldn't have even come close to that possibility with their resources). They also won the Seconds Championship, although admittedly not many people care for that, haha. A little disappointed in the T20 campaign but very happy with the One Day performance where they were strongest. I'm secretly most pleased with the progression of a young (and more 'homegrown') bowling attack rather than the 'big hitters' and strokemakers of the team.
Onto 2016 then! Interested to see what comes if Hales and Taylor are away more frequently, may see the likes of Libby and the younger Root more often.

In a last Sri-pleasing act, Rushworth is voted player of the season, and the PCA Team of the Season (whatever that is) has exactly one Yorkshire player in it (Root). Already some chuntering in the article comments.

I do find it amusing that their team of the year has no players from the team that won the championship in it (Root didn't play a championship match all year, so doesn't count).
Rushworth, well deserved and rightly honoured. As the CWA seem to be favouring Batsmen, the idea that the main PCA awards (player and junior player) go to bowlers is a nice balance.

I think it was a combination of the entire season plus England performances, hence how it is. The only other Yorkshire player who should have been in the side, aside from Bairstow is probably one of Brooks or Bresnan and I think neither was consistent across all formats.

I'm not saying they're wrong, in each individual position on the team, there probably has been a better player elsewhere in the country, it's just amusing that the best team over the season doesn't necessarily have all the best players (or even any of them).

Very true. Afterall, it is a team game isn't it. So it is more about the best team rather than the best collection of individuals.

#strongunit Have to say, I'm very surprised about the lack of Bairstow in that team. Northeast and Davies ahead of him? Naaaaah. Worth it for the complaining Yorkies in the comments though.

Northeast and Coles fully deserve it. Bairstow should be in there instead of Root or Davies. Davies' season wasn't actually as good as he has been given credit for...

Steadzz, dunno if you read Barney Ronay's new piece on the Guardian, if you haven't. you should. I think you will find it engaging and enthralling.
