No Hildreth? Top scoring bat in div 1. If Rushworth is in for taking a bag full of wickets then Hildreth should be in for scoring a shed load of runs. Also had to do it whilst the other bunnies got shot down around him! Cook also seems a strange choice unless he has been selected just for winning the Ashes?

Stoneman didn't have a bad year...

That's true. That said, if there's one thing that recent openers have shown, it's the jump up from county to international. A mediocre Test opening performance >>> anybody in the county game.

Tres ended up the third highest scorer in CC1, albeit largely due to a massive purple patch at the end of the season (when he put his specs on!), which I suspect may have been after the voting period.

Well done Nemouk on getting to KNB. You are right on Tres though.

Tres did have a fantastic end of season. Played a couple of crucial captain's innings. I fear it would have been us not Sussex going down without him. Hope he can start next season as this one ended. With him, able, hildreth and van De mere at five we just need a decent number three to have a good looking batting lineup. If we can get this right and then allow the all rounders to come in at 300/5 not 90/5 we can hopefully play bares as a specialist 'keeper. Assuming he has not left?

Sorry to be a pedant, surely you mean Abell and not able and Bates and not bares I thought Hose and Abell would open with Tres at No.3 or even Hose at no.3 and slowly replacing Tres for the openers slot. But yes a lineup of Abell, Tres, Hose, Hildy, VdM, Cooper, Trego, Coverton, Joverton, Bates and another bowler sounds like a good side.

No announcement yet but I'd be surprised if Cooper came back for next season. Allenby however would still be under contract I suspect.

He plays best when he can just go out and whack it rather than being expected to play properly.

In which case, does he bowl a lot in CC? Because if he doesn't, he is a luxury at either six or seven.

In which case, does he bowl a lot in CC? Because if he doesn't, he is a luxury at either six or seven. Last year, he was one of our main bowlers and took the new ball much of the season. This year, he did far less bowling with the emergence of the Overtons and Allenby being brought in additionally. The simple fact is that Allenby and Trego are very similar players who fill the same role. I can't see that there'd be room for both in an ideal CC team (and Trego should win that head to head), but then again, we haven't really got any batsmen to replace either of them. 2014 Season: Trego - bowled 442.4 overs, taking 49 wickets at 28 - scored 644 runs at 33 2015 Season: Trego - bowled 298.3 overs, taking 28 wickets at 37 - scored 913 runs at 35 Allenby - bowled 288 overs, taking 23 wickets at 32 - scored 654 runs at 23

Fair enough in that case then yes, he is your ideal no.6
