(Oxford plus Law probably sets him up nicely actually...)

A bit of a shock to see Ansari retire, but not surprising. He's always said cricket was only one part of his life. Expected him to retire closer to 30 though.

Ansari always seemed to know what he is doing. Cricket didn't figure highly on his list of priorities. Fair play and good luck.

Great, fucking great. Morgan has all but confirmed that Bairstow will be sat getting splinters for the entirety of the bloody Champions Trophy. What is the bloody point. Talks about his ability to hit the ground running, but if he's sat on his arse for England and not playing for Yorkshire how is that helping anyone

I don't know but I suspect the reserve squad members in the CT are not allowed to play professional games in other leagues to keep their eye in. Otherwise it would be a massive advantage to the home team, no?

Pakistan Windies not got it's own thread....but Shannon Gabriel's dismissal is worthy of comment........1.1 overs left, 9 down, batting for a draw and......
95.6 55.2 mph, WHAT HAS JUST HAPPENED HERE? Slogs, and inside-edges into off stump! He had one ball to see out, and I think Yasir bowled the googly outside off. Gabriel may have picked it, and figured he was safest hitting it over the top because everyone was clustered around the bat. Still, what a risk. Only manages an inside-edge, and the ball ricochets into the stumps 202/10

It was an unbelievable end to a fantastic last session, also a fitting send-off for Misbah and Younis.

Pissing it down this week. Wouldn't hold out much hope for any results in the Champo. I'd get annoyed about the scheduling, but I don't think I can be bothered tonight.

In fairness, if you can find a schedule with no rain wipe outs in England (and Wales) then you've gone a bloody good job

Showers forecast, but also plenty of dry spells in the games I bothered to check (Chelmsford, Manchester, London). Might be enough rain to preclude a result but should be a fair amount of cricket played.

Fidel Edwards genuinely gets injured every single game he plays. I have no idea why we bother with him still.

I do think we're in for a fantastic season, any of the current top 6 are in with a shout and it's too early to rule out Somerset after last season. Heck, let's put Warwickshire in it too!
