From what I've read, it's the fact that this is the first Test here and the last two days fall on the weekend. Entirely financially motivated.
Regardless, I didn't think England were capable of making scores like this any more. Well done to Ansari for hanging in.

It's prob happened before, and a number of times, but I wonder, how many times have England fielded an 11 with all players having first class tons to their name? First test against Bangladesh last month and before that date 1992

India have ten of 'em too.

Right before the break, Stokes falls. Why do Eng keep losing wickets right on cusp of the breaks? Broad is out in the middle now in his 100th match. Lets see for how much long these two go on. And Ansari has batted very well till now.

In fairness, Stokes was clearly really struggling physically by that stage. 535 and counting, I'd have taken that at the start!

537 all out. Ansari with a review, which was as plumb as you like really. Let's see how the bowlers fare. The pitch is to be judged only after we see both sets of batsmen play.

My 4-0 prediction is looking pretty solid. Predicting that India will catch up, and England will then slump heavily on a pitch that is starting to turn. Whether to a draw or a loss, I'm not sure.

Its just 2 days into a 25 day series. It is too soon for any prediction to look like coming true yet. The ball is just 23 overs old and we saw how difficult it was to bat when the ball was old. And it will start reversing as well. It will really be fun to watch, this match.

I hope you're right aneesh. I actually fell asleep last night because the commentary was even flatter than the pitch!

2016 - Batting average 57, bowling average 19.80. Go Stokes, go!

Pujara dismissal overturned on review... that might be a worthwhile sacrifice to persuade India to stick with DRS for a bit!

Last ball before the new ball, review a middled forward defensive for lbw. Amazing stuff. Give Cook a medal.
