Right then chaps and chapette, I'm making the executive decision to make a new thread for the India v England series. It's quite a big toir after all.
A few pre-series predictions perhaps?
Series score: Top runscorer, each side: Top wicket taker, each side:
And for bonus points...
The player most likely to Boyd Rankin, I.e debut in the last game of an already hopelessly lost series:
The number of different players used by England in the series:
The total number of runs scored by England's left handers against Ravi Ashwin:
The number of Day 4s that see play in the series (assuming that Day 5 is thoroughly out of the question)

5-0 India
Che Pujara to top score for India, Ben Stokes for England (all his runs to be scored in one colossal innings)
Ravi Ashwin to take every single England wicket unless he gets bored or injured, or someone gets timed out as they hadn't padded up all 11 men straight away
Adil Rashid to get the most wickets for England, but at an average of 40 and including precisely 0 top order wickets
Haseeb Hameed to debut in the third test, Jack Leach and Nick Gubbins in the 5th as part of a total panic selection including Gary Ballance as captain and Alistair Cook as opening bowler. Leach goes unused.
I'm confident.

I will leave Lord Matt and Baron Sri to argue about the rights and wrongs of having this thread as well as The Big Indian One, and get to guesses.
4-0. Backing Cook to come good for one of them. Or the weather.
Top runscorers: Rahane/Root Top wicket takers: RAVICHANDRAN BLOODY ASHWIN/Moeen (but, like Nemo/Rash, with an average in excess of 35).
Boyd Rankin award: Jake Ball Number of players: 15. Two of Ballance, Buttler, and Hameed to all get shots. All of the spinners to play, and two extra seamers, at least one due to injury. Ashwin runs: Picking a number out of thin air, 244. Lots of boundaries-then-outs. Day 4s: 3. We'll see at least one batting-friendly pitch, probably after the series has been lost.

This is scarier than Halloween but here goes nuthin! Series: 3-2 England Run scorers: Rahane & Root (gut says Woakes will get a bunch of 40s & 50s, head says he won't play much, heart likes him muchly and would put him first in every category along with pics so consider yourselves lucky my head has prevailed) Wicket takers: Ashwin & Stokes Most likely to do a Rankin: Hameed Day 4s - 3, Day 5s - 1 # of different players England uses: 16 Left hand runs against Ashwin: 310 As an aside I'm predicting my biggest bust for England and that honor goes to: AN Cook EDIT: Dayum Balladeer, your picks are so close to mine you might as well go ahead and consider yourself totally screwed

England to win 3-2.
Top Scorer will be Pujara / Kohli for India and Root for England Top wicket taker will be Ashwin for the hosts and Stokes for England
Player most likely to do a Rankin (I will call it a Kerrigan if the player debuts): Jack Leach or Anderson. Hameed will get his chance before that, I reckon.
Ashwin will score less than 250 runs.
England will use 16 players in the series, all 4 spinners, 5 if Leach is called up, will get chances, Ballance to carry drinks throughout the series.
Left handers will score 350+ runs against Ashwin. (I am counting on Anderson)
We will see 2 4-dayers and one 5-day test (the last one will be a 5 day game)
Surprise hit: Buttler Biggest Dud: Rashid

Does anyone know off hand if this series is going to be shown on Sky? It's not showing up on the guide here, but we almost always get the games Sky shows...even County Cricket, so I'm thinking (hoping) it's just not in the guide yet. With an 11pm EST start time I can't imagine what other live sport could possibly compete in that time slot.

Thank you muchly gentlemen! Great news! I was deeply worried I was going to have to resort to Guerilla Cricket again. Not that their coverage isn't good. It is. Very entertaining. It's just that having the "Kyle Abbott" jingle get stuck in my head for about a month the last time I listened to them made me a bit too fond of American gun laws, if you get my drift.

LOL. Consider yourself lucky Balladeer. I would give anything to be able to choose more than one. As it is, I'm cursing myself for even bringing it up as Ive discovered that "Rohit Sharma" fits in perfectly for Kyle Abbott. *tears*
