But Morgan is really good? I don't get why people don't like him. Is it the Irish thing?
Admittedly I held his test career against him for a bit because I think he stole Hildreth's best chance at a test run, but there's nothing broken with our ODI set up that needs fixing yet.

I don't think he is good, that's all. Its not because he is Irish. Its that he isn't consistent enough to be picked especially with the assortment of talent that England have and also considering that Buttler is becoming quite a captain. Oh, and by the way, where was the captain courageous during Bangladesh ODI series?

I tend to think Morgan is a bit overrated too, though spectacular at times. I don't know whether it's a slight statistical thing where I instantly see the FC average under 40 and think they can't be that good, but I feel similar towards Hales, and he falls into that average bracket too.
That said, the rule doesn't apply to Buttler, FC average 32 but I think he's great, so maybe my point is bollocks

1-1, with a *smidge* of help from umpire Shamsuddin, who appeared to be having an 80s nostalgia trip with some of his umpiring. Lovely innings from KL Rahul and great death bowling from both Jordan and Bumrah.
Nehra is a tricky one for India, excellent bowler but a total liability in the field, much worse even than Rashid.

Shamsuddin was my man of the match.

Massive score from India! Quite a chase needed, but three consecutive sixes here from Morgan in the 12th over pretty handy!

In these dark times of political brouhaha, and with the end of the world looming orange and hairy, it's good of England to give us all something to smile about.

And finally, it has happened. Cooky has stepped down as captain following the series. Poor man has been put out of his misery. Hope he rediscovers his form right in time to smash the Aussies in the Ashes.

Not sure whether this is a good thing or not. I'm really not sure either way. Looking forward to Joe's sudden and dramatic loss of form!

I'm also worried that the captaincy will affect Root's batting.

Well, the other members of the Fab 4, Williamson, Smith and Kohli, have taken up test captaincy so its just a matter of time before Root becomes one. The good thing for him would be the presence of the previous captain and the team's best batsman in the ranks so that he feels at ease, which isn't the case for Smith and Williamson. I reckon he will be up for the challenge.
But if the selectors do not want to add substantially to his workload, they perhaps should consider Broad.

No surprise anywhere, been coming for ages, at least he goes on his own terms so we don't get the histrionics of his ODI captaincy loss......think it'll extend his career by a few years, and if he stays in form then bonus for ENgland.

Kohli was made captain and he now has four 200s in four consecutive series, a world record. Perhaps Root will finally learn to convert pretty cameos into hundreds and daddy hundreds? Or is that too much wishful thinking.
Why do i feel though that Stokes would be a better choice.
