Morgan will be on his 'erse' if he doesn't perform, he's not got the goodwill that Cook has with the test captaincy for sure, but I think he'll turn it on just enough in India to keep his position, especially if England keep playing in the style we've come accustomed to

England have put up their highest score in India in the first ODI, with Root and Roy making 70s and Stokes scoring a quickfire half century. All of them barring Hales, put on decent runs on the board. Morgan scored 28.

reckon India will win this one, short straight boundaries to hit, also reckon Stokes is playing himself into a decent IPL contract at this rate

Well, there are still 50 more overs to come. Defending 350 in this ground, would not only depend upon the bowling performance but also, more crucially, the bowling changes made by the captain. Dew is also an important factor, so need to get a lot of overs of spin before it sets in.
Eoin Morgan, what a mug! Tight bowling till 15 overs and then he throws the ball to Rashid??!! Bewildering. And why weren't the fast bowlers used instead of Root? The three spinners had to bowl just 10 overs between them and that screwed up big time.

well...saw that coming, can't really blame anyone though, two outstanding individual innings for India, England batted v well and, well, bowling was a bit meh but on a pitch that was certainly favouring the batsmen. A closer match than most would have expected, before the match anyway

One thing about Kohli's captaincy is while some captains think about winning the toss and electing to between bowling or batting, Kohli's just thinking how big a total would I have to chase this time and Will I get a hundred.
He is a class apart in ODIs. 17 centuries in chases already, equalling the world record. completely different animal. Best in the world for a reason.

Amazing innings from Yuvraj Singh, but terrible bowling from England. India definitely looking like getting over 350.

despite the crushing last 40 over spell.....I don't think that 350 is beyond England here, the pitch isn't doing a great deal and with shortish boundaries I think this is within range

well.....I did say that we'd chase down 350...shame they made 380 really. Hat tip to Morgan, under some pressure that was an innings of true class. On the more negative side, and can't believe i'm saying this, but at what point do people start to really question Root's temperament? His conversion rate this past 18-24 months or so has been pretty frustrating, another poor shot today, if that'd been KP (as it often was) there'd have been real shit coming his way.

Further question.....did England get it wrong only bowling 5/6 overs of spin today where India bowled 25? Or was that just down to acceptance that Rashid on a less threatening pitch wouldn't have had the control to keep them in check like Jadeja did for India or take wickets like Ashwin did?

An extremely hard fought win for England in the final ODI hanging on by 5 runs. Chris Woakes holding his nerve in the last over after conceding 2 boundaries.

Very high class series that, the final game a thriller. Wouldn't be at all surprised if England v India was the Champions Trophy final this summer.
No Jadeja or Ashwin in the T20 games, good news for England.

Comprehensive win for England in first t20, very good display from England bowlers especially Moeen and Mills. Morgan with a good fifty and cameos from Billings, Roy and Root.

I somehow find myself wishing Morgan to fail with his bat, so that England can give a chance to someone who is actually decent with the bat. Duckett, maybe? That said, it was a superb spell from Moeen.
