Poor Keaton, having to be the centre of endless bashing from.people who haven't seen him play. #perfectcookreplacement # class I watched all the county highlights last year when he batted, does that count? I told one of my mates that he got 50 and his reply was 'What a man, get him in the test side! Although this will probably be his only 50 this season'.. Good to see Younger Root doing well! Could be a solid County pro. Poor old Cambridge MCCU getting battered...

Century for Billy Root

Counties Twitter feed's beyond tedious today. Lots of Glamorgan publicity shots. Meanwhile Root the Younger tons up with a six. He'll always be in his brother's shadow, maybe that can motivate him? Or maybe it'll break him, I guess we'll see.

Good to see younger Root do well. I'd like to seem get a regular county team.

He's at Notts, no? Also, we talked about Fantasy Cricket. I think I can probably make it happen if there's demand (We can recruit further on the Blog itself). It would be fairly basic and a pick your team at the start of the season, no transfers jobbie, but it would be free and an opportunity to all pick Keaton. Here's a first stab at a player list - values based on abilities and availability on a scale of 1-4 - the idea would be you'd pick 4 batsmen, 4 bowlers, 2 all rounders and a keeper, with something like two 1 raters, 3 2s, 3 3s and 2 4s docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JHpsWyqX3SBuVCbhwiRcd9f0K8VmKDxHLVQr2qXrA7M/edit?usp=sharingWorth pursuing? Anyone obviously horribly wrong on the list (Kane Williamson is a 4 because he's playing three games, that's the obvious one!)

I can't see Google Docs at work Nemo, but that sounds like an ace idea! Maybe one big transfer window halfway through the season? I... I didn't know this was a thing: twitter.com/SteelertheDog Since when do Northants have cheerleaders? Also why isn't their mascot a turtle or ankylodon or something? (I've always thought of a "Steelback" as a woodlouse...)

Yeah, Billy did play a fair bit in Notts Second XI and I remember he came in for one or two CC games at the end of last season. Great to see him reach a century though!
That idea for fantasy cricket seems pretty good, probably doesn't matter if it's basic and such as long as it's functional enough. Sure we could find enough people on here and on the blog to partake.

Billy played for the Notts first team once, and has done lots of second XI cricket for them. Not sure he's in their actual squad though..? Guess we'll find out as the season progresses.
I like the idea of the fantasy cricket.

Not sure if its a jinx when we celebrate his hundred and he's dismissed for 133 an hour later?

Bet Billy Root was wishing he'd survived 2 more deliveries - he would have had a nice red inker.

Basil Akram has brought up his second century in these university matches, very impressive.

I think he's on Hampshire's books. What about it, Mattmin.? Fancy some Basil sprinkled on the pizza of your team?

He was on our books at the end of last season. Pretty sure we released him though. He may be getting a phonecall though at this rate.

"Fun" game - rename the county teams! Take either First or Second Division, and come up with some alternative names for them to stave away the gaps between cricketing. Here's mine for the First Div.:
Chris Rushworth and Ten Others The Southern Hammysphere Kolpaks on Tour The Centre of a Threesome The Leicestershire Talent Drain It’s Not a Road Any More, Stop Saying It Is Apologies Birmingham Bell and the Blockers Please Don’t Let Them Win Again
