So, the first test starts in half an hour.
I'm backing New Zealand to bounce back strongly after their series against Australia.
9:30pm start time GMT too, so at least I can watch the first session without depriving myself of a normal sleeping pattern!

BJ Watling's bowling figures were impressive considering that score!
A good day for New Zealand after their struggles in Australia. I actually liked a tweet saying Guptil is stealing a living as a test opener before last nights play. A superb innings from him that will remove any pressure. Couldn't be less surprised to see Williamson with yet another 50, I eagerly await the highlights to see how beautifully he played again! Also good for BMac to get a 50.

And nobody is surprised. Shame no runs for Watling. BMac back to his preferred style of play too.

BJ misses out on world record but Baz s positive declaration pays off as they win again

Good old BJ. Loved the article portraying him as New Zealand's "accountant".
Actually Wagner would seem to fit the same mold, plugging away, understated, yet crucial in the end.

Real shame BJ couldn't get the record, but the fact he got so close emphasises what a good player he is. Great article about him, such a down to earth bloke, something most top sports lack nowadays.

Loved how baz stayed true to his word and didn't go for sole company of world record for most sixes.
Here is the actual quote : "It's the only record I actually care about, it's the only record that Kane (Williamson) or Ross (Taylor) aren't going to break as well so I should be able to hold on to that one.”
"I've been aware of it for a while as you can probably tell by the way I bat all through my career," said McCullum.
"No, I said 400 to the boys so it would have looked pretty selfish if I'd stayed out there for one more crack at it." #legend

New Zealand out of review in the 16th. There's aggression, and then there's wantonly chucking away reviews.

And Kane becomes the best batsman in the world. Not before time, I think we can all agree.

Another drubbing by NZ in the 2nd ODI it seems, following their performance in the first game.
Wow, Guptill just short of beating the record for fastest ODI fifty. Did it in 17 balls though and achieved the fastest 50 by an NZ player, still amazing to beat BMac's record and be joint second fastest. Demolished the SL bowlers straight out of the gate and knocked off the 117 runs within 9 overs, absurd hitting.
