Not sure why people are moaning so much, two wickets down to the best bowler in the world on a wet morning is hardly Earth-shattering...

We're getting re-used comments from the flotsam of your Cricinfo publishing, Matt! Also Keith's reasoning made me laugh.

A proper gritty Compton effort today, helped by a very good knock by Taylor. Steyn was superb too. An intriguing first day, great to see a contest so far.

Ach, no century for Compton. Did a fantastic job though, needed that from a precarious start.

Well done Compo and Taylor, despite falling short. The others, not so much...
...although the Watford Wall is doing a fine job in stonewalling, while The Best Number 10 Batsman In The World? slashes away. 300 up thanks to the last pair!

2nd ball of the innings, way to go Broad!

Now now, getting Fun Sail doesn't mean much. It's like getting Ali/Hales/Lyth/whoever against England. The real test starts at two down, and England have yet to even get there.

There goes Amla, at least it wasn't a costly drop. Bit out of form lately, that guy.

And now we're into the real test! Well done that Broad.

After 49/3, with both Cook and Root gone on a damp day against Steyn and Morkel, 303ao is a decent effort.
Now to have SA 113/4 with both Amla and de Villiers gone is excellent. I am enjoying this.
Only downside is Bairstow's keeping is pretty poor.

Good morning so far, Broad taking Bavuma's wicket and Mo bowling a great delivery to get Duminy.

89 run lead after the first innings. Very, very useful indeed.

Finn cleans up the last couple quickly. Elgar can hold his head high though, carried his bat.
