Sounds like Footsy's come down with cramps, so it looks more like a shoot-out between Finn and Woakes. Finn would appear to be winning so far. Jordan does seem to have been brought along as a substitute fielder and nothing else. Meanwhile, Cook hit a 6!

This is hilarious. MAli so far - 8 overs, 4 maidens, 3 for 18.

6 wickets at 5.19 an over, looks like SA tried the India approach of hitting Ali out of the attack. Not the way to deal with him I think, treat him with a bit of respect and milk the bad balls and he doesn't look half as dangerous as when the batsmen go after him.
Still no Jack Leach though.

If they try the same approach in the Tests I'll be very happy, except that I reckon AB De Villiers might be a bit better at hitting him out of the attack.

So potentially no Anderson for the first test & South Africa have announced Steyn is fit.
My team would be: Cook, Hales, Compton, Root, Taylor, Bairstow, Stokes, Ali, Broad, Finn, Footitt
EDIT: After the game against the SA xi, I wouldn't be surprised if Stephen Cook gets his debut before the end of the series, he's unlucky to have not played for SA before.

Footsy's cramping up, Steadzz, I don't think they'll risk him. More likely to go with Woakes, who has apparently been bowling well in the nets. Odd that he didn't get much time in the middle, though.

Cook, Hales, Compton, Root, Taylor, Stokes, Bairstow, Ali, Woakes, Broad, Finn.
Would be my XI/Batting order, and hopefully will be the team actually played as well. Quite different from the team I would have guessed at 12-18 months ago!

That's a brilliant tail, it really is. I know how everyone says it should be the best bowlers, not the best all-rounders, making up the tail, and they're right; but I'm still looking forward to some handy lower-order runs after Steyn and Morkel are a bit tired.

Woakes it is. And here we go. More worried about Abbott than Steyn from what I'm hearing.

Today is the day! Visiting my girlfriend's family in France, so I can't watch it on Sky, but I suspect I will be glued to cricinfo all day.

I guess there's a pretty good chance I will be able to watch Cook's 10,000th test run live now.
Can the rest of the batting lineup stand up with Cook gone early? It's certainly long enough...
