Silly run-out, a freebie wicket.

Roy's going to be one of those players who's always almost there, isn't he?
EDIT: "Sigismund: "17.5, "moo"? This remark is surely reserved for shots aimed at cow corner, not over cover?" It is a comment reserved for shots of exquisite bovinicity" Excellent stuff.

Poor ol' Root, his highest ODI score and it's the third highest of the day.

For all that Root's a great batsman, his ODI average is actually pretty low among the greats. Dwarfed by such batting genii as, say, Misbah-Ul-Haq's. (I assume Misbah's is higher, can't actually be bothered to check.) As is his highest score.
So, England's ODI bowling, then. Long known to be New England's weaker aspect. What do we think? Broad back, at the potential cost of Test form? Jordan as far away from the team as possible? What about Woakes?

Jordan out. Is anyone disappointed?
Meanwhile the ladies' tail is adding some very useful runs after their early collapse.

Cape Town decider? Only partially joking at the moment.

Yes, there will be a Cape Town decider.
Clearly the Gods of cricket want me to actually do some work...

Turnarounds everywhere in the end. A heist from Morris though, ridiculous.

Incredible game. Fantastic and awful cricket from both sides. Very entertaining. Sunday should be good.

Well played by Hales, good to see him have a fantastic series. 236ao is poor though.
I like Vaughan's comment at the half way stage - "Most talented group of One day Cricketers England have ever had ... #Fact .. They will be very very dangerous when they develop some brains"

Sad to lose the series from a strong 2-0 position, a poor last couple of games with the bat though.
Great comeback by SA either way.

That was a comeback and a half from the Proteas. Sorry been away for a while. Work has given me more than enough of my dose of cricket and since i practically decided not have a life outside of it, found it difficult to pop in here.
Anyways glad u folks continue to have a good chat.
One word, ABD.
Also, for the Test series win, which is the only format some of you care about, you can thank me (India) later for mentally disintegrating the world no.1 Test side.
In any case, the ODIs showed new England still has a long way to go before they are in anyway complete but the last three ODIs, especially the fourth one was something else.

Also, will any of u care enough about the Asia Cup to make a thread? Ditto for the World T20. Because I would love to have some conversation about both of them.

Good to hear from you! I'd definitely be up for discussion about both of those events, really enjoyed the last Asia Cup and I imagine there'll undoubtedly be a T20 World Cup thread.

I'm interested in ODIs, so I'd cast my eye over an Asia Cup thread. The fourth one this series (bleeeeeeeeeah) shows that there's still some gulf between ODIs and T20s.
At least Hales has found some form.
