I don't think he's any more of a git than a vast majority of people in this world these days. I always enjoy listening to his interviews.
On the other hand players like Taylor jar with me a bit, he always seems slightly arrogant.

Tiny Taylor? I'm surprised, I must admit. Never heard him interviewed, though. I'd imagine that people like Root would be the biggest show-offs (mostly because he's got something to show off, but also because he's a cheeky so-and-so).

I'd hope so, it'd be great to have him for the last one. Anyway, Finn has been ruled out for the remainder of the tour now, with Plunkett coming in for the LO squads.

No Van Zyl or Steyn for South Africa. Stephen Cook looks likely to get a go, and about time too, but that horse is several fields away now. Reasonable chance that Duminy will replace du Plessis too.

Two Cooks at the top of the order! That broth will be ruined.

Woakes again, ho-hum. Not that surprised though.

They're talking about Jade Dernbach on Cricinfo text. Woakes is looking even more like a mistake now. He's like a proto-Jimmy, hopefully he'll make good on that but he's not a first change.

There is no way Woakes is good enough for England, especially not to replace jimmy. 5 tests for 7 wickets is part time bowler standard. He's been so incredibly wayward today too. I know he looks like a good bowler but I never see him threatening enough to warrant continually getting chances. From a style perspective he and Anderson are very similar, just Anderson is so much better.
Either way, I've been a fan of Stephen Cook's for quite a while now and it's good to see him starting his test career well (even if it is against England)

Apparently I am the only one outside the selectors who rates Woakes.

I mean, I rated him prior to this, but he's testing my patience at the moment.

Okay, right now I do understand where everyone is coming from. Still, 5 matches one at a time over several years is probably an unfair way of judging him, and he's bowled well in several of those games without reward.
I admit, he does need to step up his game today though. But I can't help feeling if he gets one 4 or 5 wicket haul he'll come good.

I think it's also that he's gone 18 of his 40 ODI bowling performances wicketless too. No one sees him as an attacking bowler, rather someone who doddles up and bowls a good line and length (not that he's done that today)

He seems to have done quite well in white ball though. I do agree that it's weird for someone who's regarded as rffm to feel so innocuous...
