The fastest ball of the morning by England has been from Stuart Broad: almost 91mph. Wood also over 90mph and averaging about 2mph more than Broad. Anderson averaging under 83. For Aus, both Mitches were over 93mph amd Hazelwood over 91 with their fastest balls.
25-3-111-0 though shows that pace isn't everything.

It's good to see that Broad is actually bowling quick again though!

It's good to see that Broad is actually bowling quick again though! On this pitch it might actually make sense when the shine is off the ball to cut down the pace a little and look for swing. I am not displeased with Mitch J.'s efforts. Let him break his back trying to bowl short at over 90mph on this. If he does, he won't last the series (he didn't in 2009 and, in 2013, wasn't even picked).

Looking more and more like a 600-er.

Pity that pitched several yards outside of leg.

Looking more and more like a 600-er. It is, but I still think that England are going to manage a first innings lead, even if it's a small one.

How soon before people criticise the curators for a flat, slow and low pitch that makes it difficult for bowlers to take wickets if batsmen don't make mistakes.

Looking more and more like a 600-er. This Aussie side, unless Warner and/or Smith score big, aren't good enough to score 600.

At happened less than 10 minutes into the first session yesterday. Then Aus took 3 quick wickets. If England struggle early it will happen again.

Big Wicket for England. Need to capitalise on it now And, of course, moments after an Australian fan offers to eat his hat if Jimmy Anderson takes a wicket in the match. It's that Paddy Ashdown moment.
