Yeah, I did worry that it was too serious for a thread intended for "bantah", it just seemed as if this thread had evolved (probably unintentionally) into some mega-thread where all international news was posted, heh. But yeah, probably a good idea to create news threads or something to separate the silly stuff from the serious stuff.

Squirrel talk in the Aus-SA T20:
"Play is just a few moments away. Apparently we have a troublesome squirrel on the outfield. "It's clearly terrified," says Firdose"
"Anyway, the squirrel seems to have scurried away. Nathan Coulter-Nile will open the bowling"
"Well, the squirrel remains on the outfield and we currently have someone trying to catch it. "Now there is a squirrel catcher lady on the field," says Firdose. That's a technical term. Here's one for the unusual occurrence list: squirrel stops play. The lady has now placed some nuts on the outfield. Seem to have given up the attempts for now. John Hastings to bowl..."
""This is the stuff we do in the Company's Gardens on the weekend," adds Firdose. I presume she means feeding squirrels"
"Neeks: "It will be interesting to ask ABD to give a try to catch the squirrel.""
"Raff: "You'd have to be a nut to be playing in the outfield against this batting attack.""
EDIT: This is the best one "edward: "a game of animals - cats among the selection pigeons, squirrel on the ground but no sign of a Lyon anywhere. ""

SA refusing to hold a day-night Test against Australia, but India holding one against NZ. The future is coming, gentlemen and any ladies, and it's pink.

Another T20 World Cup? We've just had the last one. I'm not sure I can take another three months of prime cricket weather (in certain parts of the world) with no Tests. And surely, surely, one of the ODI World Cup and the Champion's Trophy needs to go for this? (Triple post plz comment thanking you.)

Anything to make more money.
They need to get rid of the Champions Trophy as it holds no purpose other than to make more money for the full members.

Agreed.
In stuff that barely qualifies as news, Nuwan Kulasekera retires for playing a format he basically wasn't playing anyway. Sri Lanka have lost two seamers so far, and he still hasn't come anywhere near the picture.

Speaking of retirements, Lydia Greenway is off now after Edwards also retired and Sarah Taylor took an 'indefinite break'. Doesn't sound particularly good for the women's side at the moment.

Sounds like Mark Robinson is seriously cleaning out some of the experienced heads. A brave decision, I guess only time will tell if it was sensible...

Lydia averaged in the teens in Tests, I know she didn't play many but that is roobish.
Champion's Trophy groups announced. Anyone interested? Anyone at all?

Groups look fixed as usual, more money making tactics.

Six tournaments in a row with India and Pakistan in the same group, apparently

What an extraordinary coincidence.

Would it be out of place to suggest that we have one big "ODI series" thread? Honestly I don't think any bilateral (or trilateral I suppose) series consisting of purely ODIs is worthy of its own thread. But that might well be me and me alone.
