Jason Roy now all but guaranteed a place in the England test team on the back of a ton in an ODI?
Already seen some thoroughly informative tweets, advocating the above, and others asking why we can make 300+ in an ODI but not a test......
I'd shake my head at it all but honestly, I suspect that Bayliss is thinking the same thing! These ODIs as well as the world cup are basically an open audition for a place in the top 3 for Roy or Hales

That ODI was... quite the thing.
I know hindsight is 20:20 and everything but I never had any doubt England would chase that just from watching the first innings. Yes, Gayle smashed a whole lot of sixes, but he also turned down an astonishing number of runs and Joe Root especially showed why you just can't do that.
Would really like to see a comparison of Windies players strike rates when batting with Gayle and with anyone else - as much as his personal stats look okay I think he must cost his partners significantly.

I think that’s the most incredible thing about this match: nobody seemed to doubt much that England would chase down 361.
361.
The team is bloody insane. So, presumably, was the pitch.
On the bowling front, I really felt for Mark Wood. Man’s a rhythm bowler, and he clocked up a really good first spell that probably went on for one over too long. Then when he came back all that rhythm had just gone, and Morgan bowled Rashid instead at the death, with mixed results.

Trouble with Gayle is if he starts as slowly as he did and then gets out (which he should have done if Roy had taken that chance) then it puts a lot of pressure on the middle order. Still, he's the Universe Boss so who am I to argue.

Gayle’s learned his lesson and has started earlier.

does Morgan realise Rashid is allowed to bowl 10 overs? Underbowled again

Ton for Shimron Hetmeyer though. One of the great cricketing names.

Thanks god for DRS, cos Morgan just got an absolute horror show of a call there....given out caught down leg, the bat was about 6 inches from the ball

What on earth happened there? When I stopped following the match England were walking it, pretty much. I came back to the game and England had lost!

OMG! Bairstow is 51 not out off 31 against the Windies! All our test prayers are answered, he is definitely the solution to our opening gap, how did no one ever notice this before.

Unbelievable batting from England, Buttler 150 of 77 balls.

Best part of that innings? The salute to Cottrell. Marvellous.
