I realise he's doing it for the good of the team but genuinely have no clue as to why Root or anyone in the England set-up would want him to bat in a position other than the one he averages over 70 in. #RootatFive

Doesn’t feel like the toss as much as England driving at everything. Vince clearly left a lasting impression.

Felt like Stoneman’s dismissal was a combination of the two... Vince to open?

Incidentally someone has already suggested Roy to open in I think the Cricinfo comments.

Genuinely wouldn't mind seeing Roy play Tests but him opening would be madness. Think I'd go Gubbins if Stoneman struggles again, but there's also the Keaton Jennaissance to take into account.

Burns surely must be there or thereabouts now? Feel like he’d be a solid presence, which is welcome. Haven’t felt like there was a solid presence in the upper half of the order since Ballance went into freefall.

Roy and Hales both shown form with the bat in T20 so surely next cabs off the rank, that's how it works now innit

With the new network of scouts maybe Burns has a stronger chance, but you do feel they'd probably like to look at him in Lions cricket first. Can't remember the last player who played in Tests without playing for the Lions first (not saying it shouldn't happen, but it just doesn't seem to be the way things are done any more).

Vince opening has been discussed.
I'd like to see Gubbins have a go.
