So, after a surprise Zim loss, the door is open for the winner of Afghanistan vs Ireland and we probably are going to get an associate in the World Cup after all. Knockout cricket now, pressure thoroughly on.
Ireland's hopes rest on the shoulders of Paul Stirling. Luckily, he has exceptionally broad shoulders.

They are in spirit if not letter. Give them reasonable funding and fixture schedules and I'll consider them to be treated equally.

Choice to work from home with the Afghanistan Ireland game a good option today, hoping Afghanistan win...after the 6N the Irish need taking down a peg or two

Great comeback story for the Afghans from barely scraping into the super sixes

Another class act.
I'm not sure it is 'great' Nemo. I mean, they're certainly comeback kings, but that means half the sides in the World Cup are now Asian. That's ridiculous.

Is it? Honestly, I love Ireland and would like them to do well but a strong Afghan team seems like a better option for the overall development of world cricket just based on the size of the population there. It's not like the Asian teams form much of a voting bloc with the India/Pakistan emnity. Basically, anyone outside India/England/Australia growing in strength would seriously help balance out the politics of it all.

These qualifiers followed the world rankings, and even if you look at the world's top 14, half of them are Asian. West Indies are capable of winning the event if their top players click, and Afghanistan have been consistently the top associate side for a while, and have the world's top rated short-form bowler. For me, the two best and most competitive sides have gone through, and I'm looking forward to it. Obviously would've rather had more than 10 teams involved though!

Zimbabwe have sacked Cremer and all their coaches....now that is an over reaction, and also a damned shame

As well I would think it's rather difficult playing well when you haven't been paid your full salary! This is a massive overreaction but also to cut costs, I imagine. Streak had coached them well; beating Sri Lanka isn't easy. A member of that same board previously offered Cremer $30k to fix a match so no surprise they don't like him...
