Here we go then, 3 weeks of fairly action packed group stage action followed by QFs and SFs in the next week and a final randomly plonked at Trent Bridge randomly plonked 3 weeks later. Intending on working out which counties are worst hit by the Hundred like last year shortly, but some interesting results in the national county friendlies so firing up the thread now! The three that obviously stand out - Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Lincolnshire beating Middlesex, Surrey and Durham respectively. Berkshire's win is particularly lovely, beating a team featuring several ex-Berkshire players & scoring at almost 9 an over!! & Even if it's the Surrey 3rd XI, it's just nice to see them lose occasionally

He did, just absolutely not a man I would expect to be one hit short of smashing the record for the fastest ever hundred (albeit in not quite a professional level game) - and especially not after not appearing for Yorkshire 1st XI in 11 months! Twice as many sixes last night in 25 balls as in 9 blast matches last season

Bit of a random one whilst updating the fantasy squads - all the top players heading off to the Hundred means these squads are notably more ethnically diverse than usual. Essex have four non-white players out of 13, Surrey five out of 12. Probably bodes well that the next generation of academy prospects is a bit more than just the usual "sons of previous players" - although there are a fair few of those in squads as well.
Also in "the world is upside down" news, Sussex have one of the strongest and deepest squads available for this tournament.
And finally, in a surprising twist to the above - Gary Ballance is unfortunately unavailable having tested positive for Covid-19. Now there's a jinx.

So, the hundred players: (purely using the squad lists on the hundred website some of which seem to be slightly lacking in numbers - and ignoring all overseas players)
Group A:
Durham: Wood (LS), Potts (NS), Raine (NS), Stokes (NS), Carse (NS)
Gloucestershire: Hammond (BP), Howell (BP), van Buuren (BP), Cockbain (TR), Higgins (WF), Payne (WF)
Leicestershire: Ackermann (MO), Parkinson (NS), Ahmed (SB), Mike (TR)
Middlesex: Helm (BP), Morgan (LS), Roland-Jones (LS), Simpson (NS), Sowter (OI), Cullen (LS)
Nottinghamshire: Harrison (MO), Carter (TR), Fletcher (TR), Hales (TR), Moores (TR), Mullaney (TR), Patel (TR), Ball (WF), Clarke (WF), Duckett (WF)
Somerset: Leach (BP), Smeed (BP), Lammonby (MO), van der Merwe (NS), COverton (SB), Gregory (TR), Banton (WF), Abell (BP)
Surrey: Smith (LS), Evans (MO), Clark (NS), SCurran (OI), TCurran (OI), Jacks (OI), Roy (OI), Topley (OI), Jordan (SB), Moriarty (SB), Pope (WF), JOverton (MO), Burns (OI), Atkinson (OI)
Sussex: Bopara (LS), Garton (SB), Mills (SB), Robinson (MO), Wright (NS), Archer (SB)
Warwickshire: Benjamin (BP), Brookes (BP), Mousley (BP), Hose (NS), Briggs (OI), Davies (SB), Lintott (SB), Bethell (WF), Hain (WF), Stone (BP)
Group B:
Derbyshire: Madsen (MO), du Plooy (WF), Scrimshaw (WF)
Essex: Lawrence (LS), Rossington (LS), Pepper (NS), Cook (TR), Critchley (WF), Walter (MO)
Glamorgan: Hogan (SB)
Hampshire: Crane (LS), Dawson (LS), Wheal (LS), Wood (LS), Vince (SB), Fuller (SB), Whiteley (SB), Weatherley (SB)
Kent: Bell-Drummond (LS), Crawley (LS), Klaassen (MO), Billings (OI), Cox (OI), Leaning (OI), Milnes (OI)
Lancashire: Livingstone (BP), Buttler (MO), Gleeson (MO), Hartley (MO), Parkinson (MO), Salt (MO), Wood (TR), Mahmood (OI)
Northamptonshire: Cobb (WF)
Worcestershire: Ali (BP), Stanley (MO), Brown (OI), Haynes (OI)
Yorkshire: Thompson (LS), Brook (NS), Lyth (NS), Rashid (NS), Willey (NS), Kohler-Cadmore (TR), Malan (TR), Root (TR), Bairstow (WF), Fisher (BP)
So Most players lost = Surrey 11, Nottinghamshire 10, Yorkshire 9, Warwickshire 9, Hampshire 8 Least players lost = Glamorgan 1, Northamptonshire 1, Sussex 3, Derbyshire 3
Most common link = Nottinghamshire -> Trent Rockets, 6 players, Surrey -> Oval Invincibles, 5 players Most common links outside of region = Hampshire -> London Spirit, 4 players (I like this one as with Ellis & McDermott too, 6 players & almost the entire title winning bowling attack is quite the haul) Least common links inside region = Glamorgan -> Welsh Fire, 0 players (really?!), Essex -> Oval Invincibles, 0 players, Northants -> Birmingham Phoenix, 0 players
South group players = 53 North group players = 51 Hundred ground players = 7.5 per team (Glamorgan letting the side down) Non-hundred ground players = 4.4 per team (Somerset & Kent stand outs with 7)
Biggest increases from 2021 = Hampshire (4 -> 8), Warwickshire (6 -> 9), Essex (2 -> 5) Biggest decreases from 2021 = Sussex (9 -> 3), Glamorgan (4 -> 1)
Glamorgan last year's champions and in theory losing the least this season, so perhaps a team to back once again. Welsh Fire not having any Welsh players is a shame, but not even having any Glamorgan players seems like a massive own goal! Sussex lose far fewer players than in 2021 but when two are because of moves and three are because of injuries/retirements it's fairly irrelevant. At first glance at squads for tomorrow, I'm feeling Warwickshire look strongest, but who knows - a lot of exciting unknowns in this tourney

Somerset have 9 I think, Abell and Marchant de Lange missing from that list (although Abell is probably injured as well).
The Hampshire - London Spirit link is that they share a bowling coach I believe.

And Kent appear to have picked Joey Evison as a specialist... opening bat? Odd.

Yeah I left de Lange out as he's an overseas - although full-time so likely would have played RLODC while most of the overseas players involved were t20 only.
Abell is out for the tournament along with a few others but surprised they're just not listed in the squad at all, I'm gonna have a look through the squads now and add them in red
Glammy looking very strong in the batting line-up, and if they're bowling teams out for 100 too wouldn't surprise me to see the trophy retained

A good day for the Ollie Robinsons I wouldn't have had that on my bingo card this morning. What a knock.
