After tonight's matches we have a crazy qualifying scenario in the south group.
Kent, with 16 points and 3 games left are all but mathematically qualified. Sussex with 15 points and 2 games left are fairly safe, barring 2 defeats.
But, below them, 6 teams are still fighting for the remaining two Quarter Final places.
Essex, Glamorgan and Hampshire are on 12 points. Essex & Glamorgan with 2 games left, Hampshire with three.
Gloucs and Surrey are on 10 points, with 3 games left.
Somerset are on 9 points with 3 games left.
The best placed team on NRR are Gloucs by some distance, followed by Essex. Glamorgan are the team with the worst NRR.
The only team out of contention are... drumroll... Middlesex (again).
It will be interesting to see who comes through but, for most of the sides with 3 games left, it looks like anything less than 3 wins will be insufficient.

It's at Tunbridge Wells though so no Canterbury like home advantage which will suit Glammy Glamorgan are in a bad position because their NRR is the worst in either Division apart from Derbyshire. They really need not just to win their last 2 games, but to win them by big margins. However, they are in with a chance. Defeat by Kent will knock them out.

I don't know why, but I just feel Somerset might sneak in, they probably won't. but just feel that they might.

I don't know why, but I just feel Somerset might sneak in, they probably won't. but just feel that they might. Back from a week's holiday and a three and a half hour delay in our flight home (that was scheduled to arrive at 2230 already).
The South Division continues to have a mad qualifying scenario in this last round of games. There is one team qualified (Kent). One team that is all but qualified (Sussex), but which can still miss out if four results all fall the wrong way and then there are five teams chasing the remaining two spots.
Middlesex are eliminated. As are Somerset.
If Sussex beat Surrey on Friday, they qualify 2nd in the group.
If Surrey beat Sussex on Friday and any three of a Surrey win v Middlesex tonight, a Hampshire win v Somerset, an Essex win v Kent and a Glamorgan win v Gloucs all happen, Sussex will miss out.
Even if Glamorgan win their final game, their poor NRR will almost certainly see them miss out if Surrey, Hants and Essex win their remaining games.
Gloucs can still qualify if they beat Glamorgan and two of Essex, Surrey and Hants lose.
There will be a nervous few hours tonight and tomorrow for the six teams involved.

I can't believe how exciting both groups have been this season. Glamorgan were clearly up for it on Friday at Tunbridge Wells, they're mentality in the field was that they feel they can still qualify. So that'll be a good game at the SWALEC

So that'll be a good game at the SWALEC The only certainties are that Kent are through and that Middlesex and Somerset will miss out. Glamorgan's poor NRR means that they need other results to go their way though: unless they have a win by a freak margin v Gloucs they will still have the worst NRR of any of the 6 contenders in the South Group.

Kent are guaranteed to win the group but they aren't certain of their opposition. If Northants finish 4th in the North group, due to their tour match against Australia, Kent will have to play the team who finish 3rd. Which is wrong and unfair.
