Weird Hampshire team. Alsop is down as keeper, despite Wheater playing, McManus (a keeper batsman) is listed as number 11, although that will certainly change. No Carberry despite him having been named in the squad. HK Adams, TP Alsop†, AJA Wheater, LA Dawson, WR Smith, SM Ervine*, GK Berg, GM Andrew, MS Crane, RA Stevenson, LD McManus Did expect to see Carberry. Odd side as you say - McManus didn't bat, bowl or keep (??). Any idea why Alsop went off? Was looking good. Easy to say now, but I backed Essex to chase that all the way. It's not often that 310 doesn't look like enough but there were almost no edges or misses and the ropes were quite far in. No doubt you're disappointed with the result, and it's no consolation, but it was a great game for the neutral (even the girlfriend - but she does think I should give in and support Hampshire). Not sure why Alsop went off, beyond illness. Was certainly a bit disappointing, as at one stage I thought we had an excellent chance of winning. Joe Weatherley has replaced Alsop for our game today, and McManus is listed at a more sensible number 7. (He scored a 50 ball 100 in a 2nd XI T20 game yesterday.) He's also down as the keeper for cricinfo, but Hampshire's website implies Wheather is still the actual keeper. Still no Carberry though, which is very confusing.

So, ton or single-figure score for Macca? Hampshire have two runs to get him out at time of typing. No Best?

I guess the only reason I can see for Carbs not playing is the fact that he's passed 21 only twice in 14 innings this season, but still odd. Haven't heard of any injury. Shame about Alsop, but nice to see Weatherley get a chance. I guess this is probably the tournament Hants care about least this season, so seen as a good opportunity to play some youngsters, perhaps, while keeping our top players fresh for CC and t20
One thing I love doing is looking at the team list for hampshire on twitter/facebook and seeing all of those 'why no afridi', 'not worth watching because no afridi' & 'where's boom boom' comments for a competition he's not eligible to play in

Four, four, four, four (last one failed to be caught by Kevin Hand). Welcome to the RLODC Brendon.

Hampshire bring their eighth bowler on. I like this sort of thing, village in the best possible way.

After being 190/3 after 30 overs, rather pleased to have kept Middlesex to 295.

The usual "double after thirty" doesn't work when your most destructive player by far opens. With Middlesex's lack of spinners and small boundaries, I expect Hants. to piss this.

They'll be fine, they've still got Keaton.

Keaton in now, he'll sort things out. Yorkshire racing along at nearly 2 an over. 16/1 in 8.4 overs. Ballance in now, he'll sort things out.
