They had a fifty-over game last year I think on similar lines, where Saeed Ajmal pre-makeover spoiled the fun a bit.
I'll be curious to see whether the old legends still have it. Imagine Sachin can still hit some nice drives: not so sure about Lara.

Now now, I'll have no bashing on Lara. I'm just waiting for an in-swinging yorker from Wasim that is flicked off his pads by Lara. #LEGEND

It starts. I'm very concerned about how some of these fast bowlers will bowl. Curtly Ambrose is now 52.
The names are famous among cricket fans, and several (including myself) will tune in for that alone; but for this to be a gateway to expanding cricket, into the US and other places, among non-Sachin obsessives, the quality of the cricket needs to be good. 90mph rip-snorters are one of cricket's most obvious spectacles, and I'm not expecting any here (Brett Lee might have been able to deliver a couple).
Or maybe that's what they want? Maybe to the unininitiated, straight sixes are the best sight (as opposed to being a formality in the modern T20 game (or when Misbah's playing)), and having Ambrose bowl dobblers that can be smacked out of the park is preferable.

I agree. I'm looking forward to it, especially as for most of the big names I am too young to have seen them play, or at least play in their prime.
Still, I hope it's of a reasonable quality.

I'm so confused. If three people miss out, I swear that's more than eleven on each side...

I thought the same... but apparently only 11 each.
Not quite sure what to make of it so far. Odd shaped pitch, slow outfield, and middle aged guys running slowly.
Still, there is something about it. ^^

Sehwag still has it, evidently.

You'd expect Sehwag, Mahela and Sanga to all still be reasonably in the groove. Perhaps Ponting and Vettori too.

Called it re. Lara. Warne still has a spinner's brain - think of all that media spinning he's done! ZING.

Vettori and Warne bowling together is beautiful.

Vettori is a legend. Not often Warne is out bowled Btw that kallis catch to get rid of Sachin shows that the great man still got it

Reckon Akhtar could still make it into the international side, still fearsome as ever. Anyway I enjoyed that, I was worried about the quality of the cricket but it was a lot of fun in the end. Ponting whacking it as if he never retired.
