Wasn't Sir Jaddu pretty handy with the bat? His spin always seemed rather innocuous, though. India really need a batting all-rounder.
Just looking back at the batsmen again: Shikhar Dhawan, not cut out for Test cricket? It may seem churlish after 130, but apparently he was really tiring by that point, and had a concentration lapse. Doesn't really suggest a great temperament. I know that he has a pretty great average, but going by Steadzz' comments above, he makes a lot of those on flat tracks.

He was a better spinner than was given credit for. (MUCH BETTER THAN MOE, but to be fair that doesn't take much doing ) But overall, I'd have Ashwin as the front-line batting all-rounder because he has the technique and temperament. He is in many ways the ideal all-rounder. Not only is he the frontline spinner, he is good enough to get into most top sides at No.6. Dhawan is a flat track bully, but the problem is that there aren't many great openers around. Also him and Vijay have a very good understanding, but if it were upto me I'd rather have Rahul and Vijay and drop Dhawan. I would also bring in Pujara at 3 and drop Rohit. Ideally my XI for this series, would've been. Vijay, Rahul, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Saha, Bhuvi, Jadeja, Mishra, Ishant. That's five frontline batsmen with Ashwin as the all-rounder, and both bhuvi and Jadeja can bat. and also keep the three spinners as well.

Worse than Jaddu? I draw the flaming line at that, Sri! Isn't Puj out of form at the moment? Rate him, just not at the moment. And no Bhajji either?

Che is, but I'd have him over Rohit but India seem to favour the latter.
Nah, I don't mind Bhajji, but he is from the past, we should be looking at the future. Also, I'd rather have Ojha or Sir.
Come on, songster, you know I'm right. Sir: 12 tests, 45 wickets, average 30.3, economy rate, 2.4 Moe: 15 tests, 42 wickets, average 36.2, economy rate, 3.8
Purely on bowling,it is clear who is the winner, unless to contrive to bring in something else.
Also loving the ISHANT BLOCKATHON

wicket off no ball yesterday and catch off helmet today, as they you only reap what you sow and India aren't reaping much rewards for opting against DRS.

Was going to say exactly the same - all India's fault.
As for Moe/Jaddu, maybe back in India. What the hell happened to Ojha, anyway?

Out of form. Sir has a lot better control anyways.

Kohli opens with Ashwin and the world's no.1 spinner takes five balls to strike. This is turning out to be the perfect day for India.
And what do we have here, a nightwatchman.
EDIT: Oh boy, two in two overs, both openers gone.
Sanga who should have walked in at 3, comes in at 4.

The UMPIRE strikes back. I am really enjoying ICC's ploy to get India to accept DRS, no more howlers. Big inside edge and caught but not given out. This is not going to benefit Sri Lanka hugely, but might well prove decisive in making India choose DRS

Some comeback. Bruce Oxenford to get MotM?
Chandimal and Mathews seem to be the strong links in Sri Lanka's batting. They'll need a couple of runs of form to keep their team out of the doldrums.

I'm enjoying the videos of key moments on Cricinfo. Hopefully they have one of the monkey scooting across the outfield.
Cricket needs more monkeys.

I love the little highlights that Cricinfo have. If this is the way forward it's going to be even more fun following games! And monkeys, lots of monkeys.

You do need AdBlock on, though. I'm not sitting through a thirty-second advert for a twenty-nine-second clip.
Anyway, well batted Chandimal. Mubarak doing a decent job as well, despite his shocking average.

definitely. I made the mistake of trying to watch highlights on my ipad which has no adblocker yesterday.
Mubarak has a terrible test average, but for a man who came in at 8 (I know he bats on flat tracks in domestic games) he averages 38 in FC cricket. Shame he couldn't get to 50 really!

He never has in Tests. Also remember that he's only 8 because SL had a nightwatchman.
India have at least one man nailed on in their slip cordon. Just need to find another couple now. Almost makes you appreciate England's, despite Bell.
