Must be time for a county update Lord Matt?
Darren Stevens for Kent surely.

Was just thinking about this today. I'll get on it tomorrow, unless LM wants to.

So last year we had the following:
0 - Cameron Bancroft
Leics - Mark Cosgrove Durham - Chris Rushworth Derbyshire - Billy Godleman Glamorgan - Graham Wagg Gloucestershire - Chris Dent Kent - James Tredwell Sussex - Ben Brown Northants - Alex Wakeley Notts - Steven Mullaney Worcs - Ben Cox Warks - Keith Barker Middlesex - John Simpson Somerset - James Hildreth Hampshire - Jimmy Adams Yorkshire - Steven Patterson Surrey - Rory Burns Lancashire - Steven Croft Essex - James Foster
10k - Tresco
Bloody hell Lancs. took a tumble. Anyway, order aside, we can't really use Bancroft any more because he's going to be In Action. I don't think Croft, Tredders, and Foster are active, Barker's moved, and... Dent and Wagg, anyone? I can't even remember I'll be honest.
So. Suggestions for replacements for those six welcome! Or five, because SC wants Darren Stevens and Darren Stevens he shall get.

Right. These are the ranks I'm suggesting. Feel free to suggest changes: if not they'll go up tomorrow probably.
0 - Mervyn Westfield
Glamorgan - Michael Hogan Northamptonshire - Alex Wakely Durham - Chris Rushworth Derbyshire - Wayne Madsen Leicestershire - Mark Cosgrove Gloucestershire - Benny Howell Middlesex - John Simpson Sussex - Ben Brown Kent - Sam Northeast Darren Stevens Warwickshire - Tim Ambrose
Worcestershire - Ben Cox Lancashire - Steven Croft Nottinghamshire - Luke Fletcher Hampshire - Fidel Edwards Yorkshire - Steven Patterson Essex - Varun Chopra Somerset - James Hildreth Surrey - Rory Burns
10k - Mark Ramprakash
I won't go through all of the alterations I made, but to focus on top and bottom: Bancroft's now back from his ban, and we've had Kaneria for quite a while, so I thought I'd go for his partner in crime. Meanwhile Trescothick is continuing to play, and at the moment not terribly well. I replaced him with a true great of the county circuit.
Please, do get your suggestions in for changes!

Okay, nobody suggested any changes, so they're up!

A quick note about the ranking system: nobody really seems to care about it these days, so I'm going to do a single change at the top of next year, rearranging the counties by ranking and changing those cricketers that need to be changed. (I don't recall Ambrose and Chopra playing much, and I'm not sure about Howell.)
Also please somebody break up my stream of posts.

I'd like it if you carry on doing them. Think part of the trouble lately is that we've been down to a few regular posters, when there were more around there was a greater swell of enthusiasm (just an observation, not meant as a criticism).

Interestingly, this is my 1500th post so I assume I may transform from Patto into someone else when I press reply...
Edit: okay, Varun Chopra is not an upgrade.

Okay, here's what we had last year: Steve Smith (because funny)
Munis Ansari (Oman) Babar Hayat (HK) Pieter Seelaar (Netherlands) Basanta Regmi (Nepal) Shaiman Anwar (UAE) Richie Berrington (Scotland) Tim Murtagh (Ireland) Hamilton Mazakadza (Zimbabwe) Mohammad Shahzad (Afghanistan) Mahmudullah (Bangladesh) Kraigg Brathwaite (WI) Azhar Ali (Pakistan) Rangana Herath (Sri Lanka) BJ Watling (New Zealand) James Anderson (England) Nathan Lyon (Australia) Faf du Plessis (South Africa) Ravichandran Ashwin (India)
Don BradmanHere's what I'm going to suggest this year. It follows the ICC rankings: Tests until they become irrelevant, then ODIs (with Thailand Women mixed in because they qualified for the T20 World Cup), then Nepal because they're unreasonably high in T20s, then request cricketers from elsewhere. David Warner (because funny and also because he was crap) Patrick Matautaava (Vanuatu) Sandeep Lamichhane (Nepal) Zhivago Groenewald (Namibia because his name is tremendous) Mark Watt (Scotland) Sornnarin Tippoch (Thailand Women) Max O'Dowd (NL) Regis Chakabva (Zimbabwe) Tim Murtagh (Ireland) Mujeeb Ur-Rahman (Afghanistan) Mahmudullah (Bangladesh) Roston Chase/Kemar Roach? (WI) Imam-Ul-Haq (Pakistan) Suranga Lakmal (Sri Lanka) Marnus Labuschagne (Australia) Joe Root (England - surprisingly hard to pick a dead cert) Temba Bavuma (South Africa) BJ Watling (New Zealand) Jasprit Bumrah (India) Steve Smith Don Bradman Steve Smith but unironically If I don't get three people suggesting changes or saying they're all good in a reasonable time I won't change the ranks until next year. If I do I will. This applies to all subsequent years too. I don’t want to be mean, but it does take a bit of time to do and I want to know that y'all care enough to make it worthwhile! Think part of the trouble lately is that we've been down to a few regular posters, when there were more around there was a greater swell of enthusiasm (just an observation, not meant as a criticism). Tell me about it.

Think Smith should be top rank for real. Otherwise like the list, would consider Kemar Roach's renaissance ahead of Roston Chase but I do like the name Roston Chase so either works for me.

Jino Jojo (Denmark) - Interesting name. Timothy David (Singapore)
I think there should also be someone from Thailand women as they qualified for the T20 World Cup.

Trouble is, if I add all three of those I need to take out three others. Shaiman can go easily enough, but would you be up for getting rid of Nepal or Namibia? If so, which or both?
Zhivago surely has the ‘amusing name from a lower-ranked country’ quota filled, so perhaps pick one of Thailand and Singapore, or suggest that other drop.
