#IagreewithMatt again. It's nice to see the ball doing something, but the scores suggest it was doing too much perhaps. Got to have a balance. Still, it's what we all expected, and preferable to the roads Sri suggests India love so much these days.

As someone who watched the entire game, I can assure that this was nowhere near a minefield and the low scores are due to the batsmen losing their mind on a pitch that offered spinners assistance.
I m writing a five talking points from the game, which I will share here soon. you can find out more about the game on that.

Sounds like South Africa had given up befoe they had even gone out to bat in the 2nd innings. Elgar made it public his disappointment of the pitch. Whether it actually was as bad as the scores suggest, I think the South African's had already decided they didn't like it.

For once I agree with kohli You don't go to England and not expect a green seamer and when you do no point in complaining. Pitches in India turn, that's their natural tendency. While I'll admit this one started turning from day one rather than 3 like usual pitches, this is no different from the Edgbaston ashes pitch or lord's green demon pitch for India. Where was the outrage then.
As kohli said, pitches in India are either flat or turners and I'd rather see a result in three days than not in 10 on roads.

So India win the toss and choose to bowl, play Stuart efffin Binny in place of Amit Mishra and who picks up the first two wickets? Ashwin in his first over.

Nohit Sharma goes for two, and Sri will be nodding and saying "I told you so".
Hey, at least he didn't come in for Pujara.

yup, i know. but at least he came as sixth batsman, which I don't necessarily mind, but no way is he in my top five indian test batsman. In fact neither is Dhawan, but one problem at a time.

Wow. The fact that Imran Tahir took a Test five-fer tells you all you need to know about the pitch.

I have to say, disagree as much as anyone wants, but this series has been a total anti climax. I know teams go to India to face the spin but this has been ridiculous. The series, I feel, has been a sham. I'm not sure if it's mindless batting or what, but the spinners have been opening the bowling and skittling each other. Yes we want pitches to produce results in the sub-continent but to have high scores in the series of 215 & 214 is shocking. I know it's exciting seeing if the team can defend a low total but we all know Tahir is a poor test player and for him to have gotten a 5 fer the pitch must be bad.
I'm disappointed and grumpy as a result.

Wow, SAfrica are just absolutely shot. Faf, Amla, Duminy playing like tail-enders; Indian bowlers on the warpath. Kudos to Kyle Abbott, but this is absolutely terrible.

Somehow I expect to see all these Saffer batsmen merrily back to their best by Boxing Day

That was quite a blockathon. Not sure I agree with it as a tactic, but it was certainly interesting.
