Hello everyone. I've been a lurker on the Cricinfo blog since day one, but I don't post there often as I still feel like a novice to the game of cricket even though I've loved it for several years now. Whether this is because of my insecurity with the whole "men & stats" thing or my general American femaleness I do not know. All I can say is that I console myself to sleep at night by convincing myself that that the cricket is not meant to be fully understood, only gazed upon and admired....albeit, I assure you, in a wholly Un-Kardashian type way. This does not mean I do not understand the rules or scoring. I do. It's the history and the role it's characters have played that leave me feeling like an uneducated outsider. In general I guess you could say I'm the anti "He Who Must Not Be Named". I have very little to say, but a whole lot to learn.
The only things even remotely interesting about me are that I was born & raised in Florida and am both a chef and a Chemical Engineer. I love (American) College Football about as much as cricket. My degree is from a large Southern institution of higher learning so if any of you NFLniks would like opinions on future NFL players I can offer them with much more fluency than a truly informed opinion on something like Yorkshire, whose fans, incidentally, remind me of fans of THE Ohio State University (gag). Fair warning, I do have a slight case of the hots for Chris Woakes (love the hair, sorry) & AB de Villiers so it's probably best that we avoid these topics. And please, don't ask me the "how did an American girl get in to cricket" question as I am unable to divulge that information for an unnatural, yet eternal hope that the human wonder who is called Jack Shantry will one day catch wind of my tale & choose to write it with much more eloquence and wit than I myself am capable of conveying.
Oh, I almost forgot, I support Hants, Warks & Essex for no other reason than I just do. Looking forward to learning from you all.
