Sadly none of them have ended up in the Southern team, I guess when you merge the squads it's essentially a large England Lions team. Bizarre that the ECB have been so keen to hype up this series but then it's going to be in the UAE where nobody will watch, and they didn't sell the TV rights to anyone. Would've been a great chance to sell them to some free to view channel, but alas. I'm predicting a 2-1 North win. Not sure if this series warrants it's own thread so I stuck it in here!

Well Tim Groenewald is a proper left field choice (on stats) along with Gregory and Graeme White (who admittedly also got a Lions call up).
North batting first, Jennings and Duckett out cheaply so far, but Liam Livingstone in now and his form has been something else.

It makes me very sad to see the Ipple topping the UK edition of Cricinfo in the run-up to the County Chamo. Very sad indeed.

WI vs. Pakistan clearly did merit its own thread, with hindsight, but it feels a bit late now. Nice to have a West Indian quick get Man of the Match too. Harks back to better times.

Umar Akmal dropped from the Pakistan champions trophy squad on fitness grounds. So far so normal, but look who's head of selectors - captain kettle or what?
In an annual assessment earlier this year, Akmal had weighed 91kgs with a fat-level reading of 115.6 - a measurement of over 100 is considered high.
Fitness has become a priority for Pakistan in the recent past, with the PCB backing the selectors and the team management to enforce strict policies. "We had a set a fitness standard which isn't really a tough one to start with," chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said. "But he still didn't meet the average level. So whoever the player is, whatever his performance is like, we could not select him. Akmal being dropped is a reprimand and it's a major blow for any player. He is a good player, we needed him, but we had to take a decision."

Oh Boycott. He came close with something he said during the great Aggers hundredth hundred gag as well, but skirted around it there. This was... not good.

Three hattricks in a year and then 'The Tyerannosaurus Andrex' goes and does this. Masterful.
