Hopefully it means the pitch has flattened out. A lot.

Heck of a stat from Zaltzman, since the end of last summer the highest score Root has walked into is 73 and only four out of eighteen innings has the score been 50 or more.
That's really not ideal.

Oh crap sorry, no idea how I managed to lock this. 😰
Anyway yep. Love Moe, don't love Moe taking Leach's place in the side.

Bowlers paying the price for the batting ineptitude..... Classic. Wonder how soon we'll see Broaderson split up to bring in a bowler who can bat a bit to further strengthen the tail.

I believe Jack Leach averages 45 opening in test cricket, so maybe that's the obvious next step.
I love Mo, I'm always happy to see him but do think we should probably have kept him out of the test side for the good of the white ball sides.
Silverwood's back to basics sides seem to get funkier and more Smith-like every week.

Saqib Mahmood called up to cover Broad when Coverton and Wood are already in the squad.
Moeen called up to play when Bess and Leach are already in the squad makes a bit more sense to balance the team, but overall it really doesn't seem like they trust the squad they picked one test ago.

The approach to selection is frankly absurd. Pick a 17 man squad then decide it's not big enough and call up another 2 players. And what a kick in the bollocks for those selected who aren't playing, Bess could be playing RLODC for Yorks, or would prob be making some extra £ in the 100, having already been fucked around in India I mean what the fuck must be going through his head.

Broad and Anderson seemingly doubts which might explain needing seven seamers.
Wonder if the enforced changes in the bowling might stave off some changes in the batting - otherwise we could relatively seriously see six changes.

Broad and Anderson seemingly doubts which might explain needing seven seamers. You say that, I presume Silverwood just wants to pick seven seamers.

Broad out, a blow, not great figures in the last test but been our best bowler for the past 2 years since he started pitching it up. Good opportunity for Robinson to bowl with the new ball though, given what we've seen of him in the past 3 seasons in CC and 2 tests, he could be the real deal. I'd expect Wood to come back in too, offers a bit more with the bat and something different with the ball. If Jimmy is out, I can see Mahmood playing over COverton, which would be a slap in the face.

When the players are off for rain 8 mins before lunch and you hear, 'we understand they won't be taking an early lunch'. Why, just why does cricket hate itself and its fans?
