Women's Tests are few and far between (7 years since India last played one) so looking forward to this. Shame the build-up has been overshadowed by the used pitch debacle (why they couldn't play at Lord's I don't know). Weather not looking too clever after today either. Still, will be a great occasion.

Bristol/Taunton often host women's fixtures with good attendances, I suspect that would have been part of the original plan, admittedly nobbled by the lockdown extension. This test was added to the schedule quite late as well, which seems like slightly poor planning.
Still, looking forward to watching this. Used pitch suggests spin may be to the fore, but only 37 overs so it shouldn't exactly be a raging turner from ball one.

The pitch thing looks really bad from an equality point of view. Just terrible. Otherwise, looking forward to this.

Yeah it's not a good look at all, but with the forecast it might actually help get a result.
Good start from England, apparently opening partnerships can last more than ten overs - someone should let Somerset & England's men's sides know!

WH was dropped though. New Zealand's men wouldn't have made that mistake!
WH going into white ball mode now. Don't remember being super-impressed with her in the past.

Same - she'd struggled with Crohn's (same thing Jack Leach has, interestingly) and I think is in a much better place health wise now which must help a lot. Bit of a mini-collapse last night means England aren't thundering along towards 400 any more, but Dunkley and Ecclestone in now should get them past 300 and are both capable of adding more. Dunkley in particular in cracking form in the RHF. Interesting now I look at it that England are playing four seamers (five with Sciver) and just Ecclestone (presumably with support from Knight) as a spinner. Not expecting much turn from the used pitch? Would have expected another spinner in place of Kate Cross really, but we'll see how they go.

The slow over rate issue is spreading to the women's game it seems. India very slow between overs.

Yeah, between overs is the issue, they all stop for a chat and to do the crossword. Penalty runs please.

Dunkley reprieved by DRS on 46. Tense times...

It's turning a lot. One spinner you say?
Admittedly, she is a very good one.

Journos as usual keen for a declaration. Score runs while they're cheap, 50 more now will come much faster and easier than in the third innings. Intent is pretty clear now.

And, if we'd declared, we wouldn't get to enjoy Anya Shrubsole swinging across the line with such abandon.
