This Moeen choosing to miss two tests framing isn't really on is it? We've rested Curran, Wood, Buttler and who knows else and it's been very much a team decision, but when the same happens to Moeen everything is "Moeen's choice" and "Not what the team decided" and all the usual idiots clamming on about choosing the IPL over England.
It's really not anything other than othering Moeen based on his race, is it? I'm sure most of the people involved aren't actively racist or wouldn't think of themselves that way, but the language we use around Moeen or Archer versus Buttler, Stokes or Anderson in identical situations is really quite concerning.

...it would seem I really do avoid following the wrong people when it comes to cricket talk.
The best and saddest point I’ve seen regarding Moe is that however much we may want him to prioritise Tests over white ball (including the Ipple), the ECB doesn’t. That’s why he had his central contract removed. Given that (and his family!) it makes sense for him to pick the white ball stuff.
Bess is not going to have a good time of it though. I think we’re onto 3-1 to India from here.

It wasn't just the usual idiots, Root said that and the BBC ran it as their main sports story.

Chucked under a bus, again....thanks for coming over since the start of SL Mo, I mean we'd no intention of playing you til our arses fell out over Dom, needlessly, then realised you had something, so asked you, in spite of not having a red ball contract....to hang around a bit longer, before staying on for the T20s as well.....
Ridiculous

Yep I just somehow completely missed the Root speech as well. To be honest I wasn't paying too much attention to the cricket of late...
Root has at least apologised now.

Calling it now. We are a spinner and a batsman light.

A 9am test match. Absolute dream stuff.
Really interesting contrast in the team line ups here. I think one spinner plus Root and Lawrence is fine really, but we'll soon find out!

Devastating start having won the toss this is. Unless the plans is runs on the board, get bowling at twilight to take advantage of the pink ball.....

Looks tricky out there to be fair, need to get through the new ball and then things might be a bit different.
Can see why they love Crawley, all going to shit around him and he's putting pressure back onto the bowlers.

Bairstow just isn't a 3 is he...think the guy should be in the team but he's a 5 or 6. Genuinely think that Stokes would have been better at 3, he's in better form and more capable at the moment of playing a long slow one than JB

England have a logjam of good players to play 5/6 and someone needs to play 3, that's the simple problem. Besides, he used to miss plenty of straight ones batting 5 too, it's just the obvious flaw with his game - gets lbw/bowled more than anyone else around.

Absolute at playing four seamers on this.

The turn and bounce Axar's getting 12 overs into day 1 suggests that going with 1 spinner could be the shambles predicted by many

Joe Root 10-fer, don't you worry.
Actually think Axar and Root have quite similar actions, just left and right handed.
