Two inexperienced and out of form top orders against two great bowling attacks, and starting with the pink ball Test. Could be carnage...

Starts at 4am. The first batting team will be all out by the time I wake up.
Seriously though. Shaw vs. Wade as openers. Yikes.

A competitive start to the series, the Kohli run-out could be a big moment in the match.

Or alternatively, Ravi Ashwin learning to bowl in Australia could be!
Enjoyably poised test this. Pleased to see Paine get some runs but the Indians bowled really well - I though Shami took one of the best nought-fors I can remember seeing!

Sums it up. And after that horror show India now have no Kohli or Shami for the rest of the series. Whitewash incoming.

Slight improvement this match.

What a performance that is - Rahane as captain and batsman, Ashwin & Bumrah with the ball, Jadeja in the field. Brilliant comeback and sets the series up really well - reminds me a bit of the England Ashes a few years ago where every test was a stuffing one way or the other. Also amused that our little corner of the internet contains the only Indian supporters I know who are quieter when they win than when they lose - county cricket has spread its misanthropy far and wide

Rahane was great, wasn't he? Surely one of their most impressive overseas performances after the debacle in Adelaide. Didn't give them much hope after that but proved me wrong.

Tim Paine: elite bellend

Steve Smith scuffing up the pitch was pretty naughty, too. You can never keep the Australian cheating psyche down for long.

Smith's was a little bit funny if petulant. Paine just embarrassed himself. How can you keep for so long and still be that bad at chat?
Anyway, massive credit to India for saving that. Ravi Ashwin might be my favourite big 3 cricketer right now. The Indian side are actually really quite likeable, even if the BCCI really aren't.

Yeah, to be fair I think Smith's was only highlighted off the back of Paine's antics. Paine looked a fool, giving it the big'un and it was his dropped catches that cost them the Test match!

Must be India's greatest overseas series victory? Depleted side, no Kohli, and to chase down a 300+ score on a ground where Australia haven't lost since 1988? Scenes we like to see.
