You wouldn't be saying that if you were a Northants. fan! One run off demonstrating they have a right to exist, so I'm sure the ECB is glad the result fell the way it did.

Conferences have worked much better than expected, Division Two counties like Northants, Durham and Nottinghamshire (snort) have proved very competitive

Annoying....i'm about 30 points outside the top 10 in the fantasy cricket this season.....would be bloody 3rd if I hadn't transferred out Amla in the last round!!!!!

I'm 37th and was pretty pleased with that! Ben Sanderson failing to be the points machine he's been in the past is hurting me.
Why have Durham and Derbyshire got a game off, by the way?

It wouldn't be the County Championship without some stupid scheduling decisions.

Remember when we had Hampshire down as favourites?

For a while Hampshire have been a top class 5 a side team (Vince Northeast Dawson Abbott Abbas) but there's nowhere near enough beyond that, the top teams have much more depth. (Swap Abbas for Edwards in 2017-2019, Northeast for Bailey in 2017)
Looking at today's team, Weatherley & Organ average about 20 with the bat, McManus and Alsop both under 30. Barker being back strengthens us, and Holland is a solid allrounder, but if you look at say Surrey or Lancashire's XIs, you find no such weaknesses.
I can't really knock Alsop and his two 100s this season, but essentially Hampshire get skittled unless Vince or Northeast get runs, and its been like that for a few seasons.

Surrey perhaps not the best point of comparison, given some of their performances this season...
...including this one so far. More Leics. runs please!

Yeah I'm not sure why they've been so bobbins this season, their squad is pretty stacked and on paper maybe the best(?).
Interesting range of scores today, 3 definite bowling pitches, 3 batting and 2 in the balance!

Hampshire must be shite, Somerset have taken a first innings lead! That's not how we do things at all.

I know Leach played as night watchmen.....but having Overton and Greggory as your 9 and 10 feels a bit like cheating
