Whether this will work in one thread who knows, but the England vs Ireland series starting on Thursday is the first in the inaugural World Cup Super League... www.icc-cricket.com/media-releases/1743111Still no Sam Hain for England which beggars belief really. The Vince experiment continues.

Still no Sam Hain for England which beggars belief really. The Vince experiment continues. George Dobell and Ed Smith should not be left alone in a room together for the foreseeable future. Context to bilateral ODIs is nice in theory, but nobody really ponders the WTC do they?

That's true, although if England lose their first few and are in danger of missing out on automatic qualification it will sharpen a few minds.

I do think Hain is unlucky, but I kind of understand that he doesn't really fit England's ODI plan. Someone like Phil Salt makes less sense to me (as do Denly and Billings being in, but I think we have to accept that Ed Smith is going to pick Kent players unless he absolutely cannot).
More interested in the new look Ireland side to be honest, some interesting cricketers in there and the transition from the great team is almost done now, only Porterfield, Stirling and KOB still around but assorted Delanys and Tectors due to come into the side - Ireland cricket does love a pair (or more) of brothers!

I am looking forward to the Super League as it makes everyone have to qualify for the World cup and gives the likes of Ireland, Zimbabwe and Netherlands competitive cricket against the stronger sides.

This feels unfair.

David Wiley responding to his dropping even more emphatically than Broad.

8 off the last. This is great, for both teams. Pressure moments matter.

Two full tosses at the death cost England that game: brilliant from Ireland. The Ireland of the first two games chasing 328 looked about as likely as Sam Hain being picked in the England ODI side, but delighted to see it.

Called it in the first ODI that the England team looked a bowler short and that certainly told today, not enough options at the death or in the middle overs when Moeen and Wiley were going for runs, Trying to get overs out of Vince is not going to be a success on regular occasions! Glad to finally see a close one, and England can certainly take a few positives from the series, Ireland a massive positive, so well done all round I say

Absolutely tremendous to see. But yes I’m sure the ten-team World Cup is still the best structure.

So England at a 50% win rate in the league so far. I have no idea but you would assume that would probably be enough to qualify if continued through the whole tournament...

Pakistan vs Zimbabwe going on at the moment. First ODI pretty close, we all know Brendan Taylor is a class act but couldn't get enough support to steal the win. Could be a closer series than expected.
