Seems unfair to criticise given recent weather, but it is Lancashire so fair game, but, this really is a dog of a pitch/ground. Watching a lot of the coverage today and batsman just getting absolutely no value for shots at all. Sibley's shot to go to 100 is a prime example, nicely timed push, you'd expect it to go for 4 with where the field are. Seen a fair bit of moaning about players approaches and batting too slowly, but you can only bat on what's put in front of you

Curran takes one wicket the previous night of play, and could have had two - so what does Root do? Give the ball to Woakes and Broad first thing.

That was quite a day. Everyone too nervous to comment since?

That was quite a day. Everyone too nervous to comment since? I think sadly this forum could be going the way of test cricket, high quality cream of the crop for sure, but just not enough people interested! Lacking regular contributors outside of a core 8 or 9 of us sadly.

8 or 9 is optimistic. Maybe it’ll light up again when the counties play? (To the level of a guttering candle...)
Anyway - good Test! And Ben Stokes doing Ben Stokes things, as ever.

A good Test indeed, nice to see Root getting a declaration spot on, I'm not always on board with some of his declarations. Stokes very deservedly the new World No 1 allrounder; whenever England needed something to happen, he produced the goods

More surprisingly, Stokes now ranked as the world's 3rd best batsman. Or at least, it was, until I worked out he averages 43.6 in his last 45 Tests. And 28.0 with the ball over the same period (2016-2020). Root averages 44.4 over the same period, and 39.3 over the last three years, so Stokes very possibly now England's best Test batsman at the moment.

I definitely feel more secure about Stokes coming to the wicket these days than Root.
So: who would we pick for the final WI Test attack? Consensus seems to be Anderson/Broad/Archer. The spinner is also interesting but I’m guessing they’ll stick with Dom.

Good start for England, Cornwall bowling well.

Poor running from England, gifting West Indies with a wicket.

Absolutely ludicrous stuff - both the run-out and England in general.
Hope Big Rahkeem gets at least three wickets.
