Woakes bowling to Foakes and Stokes.
It's the dream scenario we've been calling for since they were debuting.

That’s the best keeper out hooking Jofra Archer, then. Foakes’ sake.

Jos whacking Leach and Moe around the place is not what I want to see from this match.
EDIT: Mockersed him!

England Men’s Test Squad
Ben Stokes (Durham) Captain James Anderson (Lancashire) Jofra Archer (Sussex) Dominic Bess (Somerset) Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire) Rory Burns (Surrey) Jos Buttler (Lancashire) Zak Crawley (Kent) Joe Denly (Kent) Ollie Pope (Surrey) Dom Sibley (Warwickshire) Chris Woakes (Warwickshire) Mark Wood (Durham)
It's Denly at 4, isn't it? Can kind of see the logic as Root will be back for the second test, but feels like a missed opportunity to blood Lawrence or Bracey in the middle order.
Bess as the one spinner feels like it's probably the right call, but feel for Leach.

Looks like Denly at 3. 😒 I was really quite unhappy with his inclusion until I made the connection you did, that they don’t want to unsettle some young talent by giving them a single Test; but Ed Smith’s latest words sound like Denly will be part of the plans for the foreseeable. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Denly’s performances, but this feels like the perfect time to rebuild for the future and I’m back to being unhappy again.
I’d say that Moe and Leach are in my top XI of England players ever from a personal preference perspective (Moe makes my global XI). Bess is the right decision but... bleah.

Oh I love Mo, but I think at this stage it's not helpful for him to play as one spinner in England. When we go back to the subcontinent I'm keen for him to be in the side, but for now I'm fine with him bossing ODI cricket. Give Bess a run, there's a player in there.

Wheel out your weather XIs everybody. Ben Raine, Mitchell Marsh, Friedel de Wet - they’re all here.

Controversial from me in particular....but i'd have gone Broad over Anderson....sentence I never thought i'd write!

I tend to agree, dropping Broad means Archer will probably get run into the ground again.

Archer and Wood, apparently. Root would break them both. We’ll see what Stokes does.

Home umpires having a bit of an iffy performance thus far...

Stokes dropped twice. Not sure that's a good strategy.

Hasn't mattered that much in the big picture. Suppose those forty or so runs might make some difference... #Foakesin
