While the weather forecast is suggesting I should delete this before I even finish writing it, I'll press on. The division one program is interesting, but all focus really on Taunton. Either Essex win an 8th title making it a very jolly September, or Somerset add their first ever championship title to their 50 over success after 128 years. Only a win will do though. More importantly though, we have the fantastic prospect of 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs 4th, 5th vs 6th, 7th vs 8th Assuming prize money is place dependent, every team has something to fight for except Notts, who do Nott. Division Two has a simple 2/3 situation, with Lancashire already up. Gloucestershire and Northants face off (2nd vs 3rd), with one guaranteed to go up, and a 200-250 score draw would be enough for both to go up. Glamorgan are hoping one of them takes a bruising and they can take advantage at Durham. Leicestershire will need a big second win to avoid their 11th wooden spoon and 6th this decade. Division One
Somerset vs Essex (Taunton) Kent vs Hampshire (Canterbury) Warwickshire vs Yorkshire (Edgbaston) Surrey vs Nottinghamshire (Oval) Division Two
Durham vs Glamorgan (CLS) Gloucestershire vs Northamptonshire (Brizzle) Leicestershire vs Lancashire (Grace Road) Middlesex vs Derbyshire (Lords) Sussex vs Worcestershire (Hove)

Nicely done! And better than I would have. Mine was going to be the following one-liner: 'Rains all round, because that's what happens when you set the last round of the Champo in Autumn. Congratulations to Essex.'

I suspect that the pitch at Taunton is going to give a bad name to minefields and cause all sorts of grumbling. Hopefully we get enough play in to get a result, even if its the wrong one.

Still a lot to play for in the fantasy...Mo being rested again is a huge blow for me, so fingers crossed Ryan Higgins has one of those matches and Darren Stevens does not!

I've got Harmer and Leach in this morning, which I think is called hedging your bets...

Well, 27.5 overs is more than I thought we'd see this morning. Just hope that isn't it for the day!

And thus the championship ends as one would expect in late September. Pissing it down all over the country.

Taunton might actually get lucky for the first couple of hours. No chance anywhere else I'd have thought.

So they start at Taunton at noon, play for an hour then go off for lunch in the driest part of the day. That's cricket.
