Can’t disrupt the established order!
Archer has been in the team for how many Tests now?

Woakes chipping in with two wickets and pundits think he would have stopped the carnage in the first game. Scurran was wasteful, straying on leg side while bowling to the centurion Latham. Stokes has some issues with his knees. His Holiness was pretty tidy with the gloves.

> Play four outright seamers and no spinner > Still bowl the all rounder who is clearly limping
WHY ENGLAND WHY?
If Stokes can't bowl then that justifies the Woakes for Leach swap, but don't *then* bowl Stokes and risk his fitness for SA

Lovely to see Daryl Mitchell batting in a test match.
Shame it's a totally different guy but beggars can't be choosers

Fighting innings from Joe, now he needs to stick to his guns and get a daddy hundred. It just goes to show - with even two centurions, England trial by more than 100 - the kind of effort required to salvage, if not win, this test match.

It's definitely an improvement though, I'll say that!

Fantastic hundred for Rory Burns hopefully this gives him the confidence for the future.

Rory was alright, he had a couple of occasions where he looked a bit uncertain outside off stump. Add to that some missed chances, the innings did look a bit lucky. He rightly pointed out that he has to build a stronger base. Sibley and Crawley have had tough initiations, hope they turn out good.

Draw written all over this one. Test cricket's problems is that pitches aren't similar enough to county pitches, should've played on a pitch where we could have seen Scott Styris and Darren Stevens duking it out

Root double > winning this match.
Woakes taking more wickets than Curran < losing this match.

Well that was a laugh wasn't it.....oh well, guess it's in NZ's gift to prepare a pitch like that if they're already 1 up with 1 to play, other countries have been doing that since the dawn of test cricket so why not them......can someone tell me again how bowler friendly pitches are ruining cricket?

That Denly drop is a pretty clear champagne moment. Goodness me.

That was the dolliest dolly of the dollies that ever were. I bet any cricketer would have been able to catch the ball with their mouth let alone their hands.

I know that rankings aren't that great a judge, but thought I'd bring you the England batting rankings - I read the Cricinfo article about Joe Root being back in the top 10 at 7 and wondered where everyone else was. It's not inspiring:
15th Ben Stokes 32nd Jos Buttler 36th Rory Burns 38th Johnny Bairstow 45th Joe Denly 56th Sam Curran 78th Ben Foakes 80th Keaton Jennings 88th Moeen Ali 93rd Chris Woakes
For context, players that fit in above most of these include Brendan Taylor (27th), Jason Holder (35th) and Niroshan Dickwella (33rd)
Not a strong look.

To add further context.....8 test teams, each with a top 6 that makes give or take 48 or so top order batsmen in test cricket, all but 2 of those in the lower half of that 48.
